    AC30 Brilliant....bravo Cliff

I used to play this 1963 AC-30 Treble Model through the Brillant or Normal channel. Loved it, especially when driven by a compressor or pre-amp like the Korg SDD-3000. But these babies are so loud .... I dig the new FAS AC-30 Brillant and use it already in several presets. Have not yet tried to...

    Ear Damage

I also got some hearing issues dialing in my sounds at gigging volume through the PA before I discovered the high cut in the cab block. Now I play in ears since years, but dialing in sounds still requires the old procedure.

Favorite Clean amp in the III?

Interesting. I therefore switched to the Savage at that time (still for driven sounds, not for cleans). Now with FW 24 the Savage suddenly seems to sound a bit muddy in my ears. So do you think it would be time to go back to the Buttery?

Favorite Clean amp in the III?

I loved the Buttery a lot years ago, but actually rather for more driven sounds. Then suddenly with one of the FW updates the magic was gone. I switched to the Savage (ENGL). Wonder if I should try the Buttery again with the actual FW?

Favorite Clean amp in the III?

Band Commander: +1 for cleans with the Stratocaster. For cleans with the SG its the USA Clean.

Really need help and it should be easy for you.

I am not saying that they would not sound good. "Good" is a very relative term though. What sounds good on ear phones, might sound terrible over the PA at gigging volume. That has nothing to do with"something is wrong". It's the consequence of physical-, biological- and maybe psychologycal or...

Really need help and it should be easy for you.

You need to create your own presets from scratch - matching your gear and your play. At least your basic sound with amp, cab and rev. Effects can be copied to it from patches you buy, but never the amp/cab sound. It's easy to get your own sound: Just put a looper in front of your patch, play...

    Question about sound?!

I doubt that perception. If it sounds good on your monitor, it must not necessarily sound good on FOH (depending on factors mentioned above by Jason). Therefore I suggest to design your sounds on an FOH/PA System at live volume and in the mix of the band - and accept that what you hear on your...

    New Gig Issue

Korg reproduced the model some years ago in a pedal version. They also gave up on that version Iately. Avatar 2 was amazing! no spoilers

Well the ending is designed for more sequels, isn't it? Nevertheless, that could be achieved by more interesting plots I think. That said, I have to repeat that the visuals are really spectacular. Already the first Avatar has been a step into an new technical dimension in film making imo.

    Tuning and Virtual Capo Question

My experience with the Axe III and the FM9 is that the virtual capo works very well for a half or for a full step down. No problem with that. So I vote for 2 or 4, depending on how important the standard E tuning is for you.

New user - looking for an AC30 TB sound

Like Toopy I also used to spend a lot of time to recreate U2 sounds with the Axe. You can buy some U2 presets from Edo (link below). That's a good starting point. New user - looking for an AC30 TB sound

+1 Finding the right IR seems to be prime. Did you use the high and low cuts in the cab block? Make sure that in the amp block the high cut setting is 0 and the bright switch in the...

Tuner's... Do you use the FM9 or are you still gravitating to your dedicated unit?

I loved my Korg Strobo-Tuner, but since the Axe III/FM9 I am only using the built in tuners. It works fine. Reducing unnecessary complexity.

    1x6 Oval ... really ...?

I tried to be neutral while checking through IRs for my presets. 49. macky7tyseven

FRFR in live sound from stage scenario?

One of the challenges might be that the beam from the FRFR box (I use the Matrix FR12) only hits the audience directly in front of the box, so people to the left and right of the stage (and bandmates, too) hear a different guitar sound. The solution I'm working with is the Deeflex system. You...

    Wish Synth block improvements

I agree that improvements on this side of sounds is probably more rewardable for the Axe then to improve the drive of pedal nr. 356. It makes the Axe a machine for producing modern sounds that have not beeen heard before, rather than chasing old tones. That should be at least as interesting.

And you'll get that sound out of your monitors too, for sure. But every preset needs tweaking till it fits your equipment and the volume you play with.
