What is a baked cab? Thank you for this, it's the only information I've found on how to do both.

Re-amping (and recabing) with Reaper Question #433

No one's EVER done this before? Google only had eight results for "axe-fx ii reamping and recabing" with two having all the search words in them, one of them being for the original Axe-FX, the other I can't find after clicking the link. I thought doing both together was standard for editing...

Re-amping (and recabing) with Reaper Question #433

How do you recab a dry track after you reamped it / recorded the wet track with the cab block turned off (or are you not supposed to do it that way)?

    Re-amping with Reaper Question #432

I don't want to hijack the thread, but I don't want to make a repeat post either. How do you recab a reamped dry track? (I recorded with a stereo track, input 1 and 2, into a new mono track, input 3, with the cab block turned off.)

Can the Axe-FX II's CPU be upgraded?

I can tell a clear difference with the UltraRes. Maybe because I already put money down on it. And I never really sit down to read anything through and through out of fear of forgetting mostly everything. I made this patch out of pure intuition that wanted a single setting that could do brutal...

Can the Axe-FX II's CPU be upgraded?

Or can it at least be overclocked (serious)? I have a relatively simple patch I'm working on and it gets close to or over 90% without doing much more to it. I've already followed the tips in the Wiki to lower its consumption. Having to buy a whole other unit at least twice the cost I'll get...

Sub? Do you mean a physical subwoofer on top of an FRFR cabinet/monitor?
  22. T

Is it still possible to overload the CPU on the III like you can on the II?

I guess I should finally read the Wiki page.
  23. T

Is it still possible to overload the CPU on the III like you can on the II?

Does the CPU usage (on either device) account for all of the patches/presets simultaneously, or just by whichever one is running at the time?
  24. T

Is it still possible to overload the CPU on the III like you can on the II?

I understand, but is it likely to happen on the III unless you're *trying* to?
  25. T

Is it still possible to overload the CPU on the III like you can on the II?

I was editing a simple patch on the II with two different amps, two different cabs, custom IRs, a drive pedal, compression, and some reverb and delay and it told me there wasn't enough space to do any more editing unless I deactivated some things.

Can you do everything you can on the VST version of Cab-Lab 3 as the standalone?

Is it normal for a mix to start becoming congested and sound like there's a huge wave of low-end distortion that comes and goes and there's nothing you can do to fix it but remove some of the IRs?
  29. T

Can you do everything you can on the VST version of Cab-Lab 3 as the standalone?

I feel that I've waited too long, or would end up waiting too long. Compulsive buying can work in your favor despite it being a deficit in one regard. (It's how I own an Axe-FX to begin with, otherwise I'd play it safe and still use the Crate Blue Voodoo and Hartke 4x12 with a DigiTech RP150 . . .)
  30. T

Can you do everything you can on the VST version of Cab-Lab 3 as the standalone?

I guess I'll have to wait until tomorrow for them.
  31. T

Can you do everything you can on the VST version of Cab-Lab 3 as the standalone?

Well, what's said is done. I own each, but the downloads are telling me I need the activation codes to continue. Where are they? And does it matter or not that I have a 2nd generation (in order to use the EWQL libraries I bought a long time ago) iLok instead of 3rd?
  32. T

Can you do everything you can on the VST version of Cab-Lab 3 as the standalone?

Meh. I don't know what exactly I want to do with them, which probably means I should get both anyway.

  35. T

Can you do everything you can on the VST version of Cab-Lab 3 as the standalone?

What do you mean it (the plug-in) can't connect to the Axe-FX? How would it even work, then?
  36. T

Can you do everything you can on the VST version of Cab-Lab 3 as the standalone?

I figure I'd might as well save another $30. And yeah, I know this probably isn't the appropriate topic section. The traffic is dead in the Cab Lab one.

Why does it have to cost nearly $100? What else does it even do?
  38. T

FracTool - for power users only

Does this do the same thing as CabLab? I really don't have $80 to spend on a software that mixes impulse responses, not after spending three grand on the Fractal gear I own already, I don't.

Teach me then, sensei. I said I had an 'idea,' not a full-fledged plan to immediately put into action.
  43. T

Is there a way to try a III out in person? If not, I have an idea

It's just that $2.5K is a lot to invest into demoing something. I already have an original Axe II that I'm still happy with. I probably won't make the jump to III until I can afford one (I'd do more to focus my savings only on it if I could try it first), which by then the IV would be released.
  44. T

Is there a way to try a III out in person? If not, I have an idea

There are 269 Guitar Centers, so I think a lot could be made back if 269 units were shipped out to be demo/floor models at each of them. I would be okay with being able to physically try one out for myself in person then have a new copy of it shipped to me from the factory.

Tuner animation isn't working on version 3.14.3

  48. T

How do you open the program after installing it?

Yeah, it was mandatorily installed by the program's installer before the program itself.
  49. T

How do you open the program after installing it?

I'm using Windows 10 Professional OEM and a Mark 1 MFC-101 (that's connected to the original Axe-FX II via ethernet cable that isn't turned on right now. Should I turn it on?).
  50. T

How do you open the program after installing it?

I click on the 'MFC-Edit' desktop icon made after running the setup, then it just opens another .zip file folder (.jar). Is it supposed to do this? (There's no .exe in this new folder.)
  51. T

Does MFC-Edit work with the original MFC, and can the silver plate around the screen be replaced?

Mine got scratched. Bad. Are they expensive?
  52. T

Can you still do tonematching through a separate audio interface?

Thank you. Would everything else that's plugged into the other interface still be able to record if the audio device is set to Axe-FX? Someone told me about using an aggregate device on the computer.
  53. T

Can you still do tonematching through a separate audio interface?

I'm buying an audio interface and mic preamp combo for recording drums, and there are eight available inputs left. I don't want to rule out recording whole bands nor jam sessions if they're doable.
  54. T

How much longer is the sale going on for?

I'm going to try and sell my original Axe-Fx II for around the same price so I can get the XL+ at $1,799.

When I upgrade my computer, I don't have to spend $2,200 on a whole new complete build.
  60. T

When will we be able to have hardware updates without having to buy a new unit? That's the question.

Do cab packs get stored onto the Axe-Fx II, itself?

Does that answer what a 'noob' is? They're bunched together? Questions? Asking? What does 'zenaxe' mean? What is a 'wiki,' exactly? What does 'FX' stand for? Can you use cables on it? It uses electricity to run? What does it do, again? Why is the screen malachite (I like peridot; can it be...
  63. T

Could there ever be amp packs?

Would a firmware update be able to do this, or another piece of hardware that can be added (probably a one-space rack unit)?

Thank you. How much space does the original Axe II have?
  65. T

Do cab packs get stored onto the Axe-Fx II, itself?

Or are they just to load IRs for recording purposes only? On that note: can your own custom-made IRs be put onto the unit?

Axe Edit asked if I wanted to update to the newest one, and it can't run without the new firmware. I know there's an archive for downloads I just don't know where.

How do you isloate guitar tracks?

I know this is a question for Tone Matching, but it's more directed toward how to extract guitar from any song. I couldn't find how on YouTube.

I did. I'm sorry for asking, where are its release notes?
  72. T

Very low playback volume. Is it something I did?

Now when I go to record, I can barely hear the metronome or recorded audio playing back (hear it just fine playing through with the guitar, only it's barely audible if it's sound coming from the computer). I know it's the Axe-FX II doing this because I tried on three different DAWs and they all...

The same XLR worked with plugging in a Mackie powered stage monitor, yes. Why would a microphone not work with the same jack?

I'm sure this has been covered in numerous previous posts, and I apologize in advance for not having read any of them or looked for a YouTube video that *might* be able to answer such a seemingly simple question (I'm just overly impatient). I can't seem to figure out which in/out in an audio...

Axe-Edit 3 won't allow me to update to firmware 16.00

Trouble figuring out how to use an expression pedal for each effect block.

What are 'parameters' exactly? Yes, just to turn on and off.
  79. T

Trouble figuring out how to use an expression pedal for each effect block.

What are modifier screens? Are they accessible through the effect blocks themselves?
  80. T

Trouble figuring out how to use an expression pedal for each effect block.

Just four separate effects that can be de/activated by each pedal. How do you get a specific effect to work with a specific pedal? That's all I'm asking.
  81. T

Trouble figuring out how to use an expression pedal for each effect block.

I only have one pedal right now (Mission SP-1) that I'm using with the MFC-101. I eventually want four pedals that I can use separately for up to four effects in each preset. I don't know how to use the pedal's switch yet.
  82. T

Trouble figuring out how to use an expression pedal for each effect block.

I read through both the Axe-Fx II and MFC-101 owner's manuals and the Wiki page, but could only manage to set the pedal for volume and wah.
  83. T

    M-Audio EX-P?

Do these work as well as any other expression pedal? I would've gotten four of these instead of a Mission if I'd known sooner.
  84. T

    Whammy problems

Thank you. I know what I was doing wrong: I had two amps in the chain and one of them didn't go through the effect.
  85. T

    Whammy problems

On both Whammy and Whammy AD in the pitch blocks, I couldn't get a monotonal output like you would with DigiTech's Whammy pedal. Are there supposed to be two separate guitar tones when using Whammy / Whammy AD, one being affected by the effect and the other being the original tone underneath?
  86. T

    Two Mission SP-2(s)?

Also, what is the 'R' option? I know the site explains, but it's always good to hear from others with firsthand experience.
  87. T

    Two Mission SP-2(s)?

Sorry, I should have elaborated more. I have an MFC-101 already. I'm just trying to save money by only getting two pedals and a smaller case. Couldn't you deactivate the previous effect you use on the MIDI controller first, then change to another on the SP-2? That's only one movement more than...
  88. T

    Two Mission SP-2(s)?

Would this setup work the same as having four single controlled pedals?
  89. T

Can one expression pedal be as useful as 2-4?

Wouldn't it be the same as moving your foot over to another pedal if you take a few more seconds to switch effects on the controller? Also, what difference does it make if you use an expression pedal with its own switch as opposed to one that doesn't? Thank you.
