Tone osilating while playing any patch

Haha, that was my first thought, I had that happen one time and it was a trip, took me a few minutes to figure it out but sure enough it was the monitor pointed up at the ceiling fan and the reflections off the rotating fan blades made it sound like a vibrato type effect in the background.

    How Many Of You.....

I prefer traditional guitar cabs. In my last two bands the other guitarists were using tube amps and to me a FRFR monitor just couldn't compete with a traditional guitar cab in a small club. I'm sure in larger clubs where the mains carry the bulk of the sound it would be a different story, but...

Backups Take Forever and a Day

Thanks, but over two hours later and I can't get AX8 Edit to work anymore, time to cut my losses and call it a night. Never had these problems with tube amps, haha.

Backups Take Forever and a Day

Here’s the scenario, I get home from work and I have an hour to kill before my wife gets home, I figure that I’ll work on some presets and a couple of new songs for my next gig, but I always like to do a backup before I edit my presets incase I mess something up. The backup takes 35 minutes...

Thinking of switching to AX8 but...

When switching presets on the AX8 there is a noticeable audio dropout, the only way around this (as far as I know) is to use scenes and then you are limited to just one amp and using scene controllers to adjust the gain and output of that one amp. This might not be an issue for you but I think...

    Powered 1-12 # guitar speaker

I use an Avatar Vintage 112 cab with a Matrix GM50 plate amp. Instead of cutting the back of the cab to install the amp I made a new back out of a piece of plywood that I had laying around. It works and sounds great. It added very little weight to the cab, I'm very happy with it.

Ext. Switch with LED indication ?

I'm not sure if I understand your post. I use a Boss FS-6 for a couple of effects blocks and it works as you would expect, if you turn a block on with the FS-6 and change presets the block will still be on when you change presets, of course if your presets don't have the same block layout things...

How to setup external an FS to turn Pitch off and on?

I'd like to use an external footswitch to turn the Pitch block off and on but can't quite figure out how to do that. In the I/O Pedal menu I set Pedal 3 Type to Latching. In the I/O Ctrl menu I set Pitch Byp to Switch 3. Can someone point me in the right direction please.

    Fighting my CLR

I haven't read the whole thread so maybe this was already mentioned. I use a Matrix GM50 plate amp that I mounted in my guitar cab to convert it into an active cab. It works great, it added very little weight to the cab and it saves me from needing to haul a power amp. Then I simply turn the cab...

Implemented Display for those over 30.

I'm sure it's been said a thousand times, but I'm still wishing that I could read the preset name while standing up :D Seriously though, I know a lot of people like it the way it is so they can see the footswitch assignments and that's fine. I'm just hoping that they can give is the option to...
  27. T

    Can't see where I am!

I hope they will give us the option to not have the footswitch labels on the display or make them smaller, in my case they are always the same so I really don't need them on the display and that would leave plenty of room for the bank and preset names in a large font that can be read standing up.

Thanks guys. I think renaming them would be a good idea.
  31. T

Which are the new BE/HBE models?

I'm a little confused as to which BE/HBE models are the new ones based off of Mark Days amp. In the firmware release notes it says: Re-matched Friedman BE and HBE amp models using a newer reference amp, as the original reference amp is an early model and has questionable QC. Added Friedman...

Bug? Magic 8 ball in 8.01

I tried to duplicate this with a couple of different guitars and couldn't. I tried open strings, harmonics and different pickups, when the 8 ball stops the dot is centered and both arrows appear. I did notice that on the high E string the signal level will drop very quickly and when it gets low...

So where are AXE 1 and AXE 2 made in?

Actually, if I'm following this thread correctly, that would mean that you were assembled in England, not made in England, there's a big difference :D
  35. T

I don't get it, I'm about as Axe II illiterate as they come and I thought the "Magic 8-ball" was a great feature. How did it confuse people :?

LPD - And Now For Something Completely Different....

I didn't read the whole thread so maybe this was already mentioned, but I think if you used a looper you can eliminate (or include) the guitar/amp interaction and get perfect consistency between the A and B takes at the same time.

The value of the Definition control.

Short story… The definition control will tighten up the low end in a really nice way without removing all of your low end. Long story… Whenever the Fastrod came out I was really excited because I have a Quick Rod and I really like it. But to my disappointment the Fastrod didn’t sound...

    At gig - MFC-101 issue I think?

Press the EDIT button and then EXIT/SAVE (same button). I've had that happen several times, but can't figure out what causes it. Just go into edit, maybe scroll through 1 or 2 parameters and exit, fixes it every time. EDIT: I meant the EDIT on the MFC.

LPD Badger Owens Avatar Vintage 112 Scumback M75 65W IR Combinations

Wow, thanks for doing the demos, that was really cool. You are correct, I renamed the files but didn't think to rename the IR's themselves so 1 is 4, 2 is 5 and 3 is 6. The only magic involved would be luck. The speaker was powered by a QSC GX5, then mic'd with an Audio Technica AT4040 right up...

    Avatar Vintage 112 with Scumback M75 IR's

The mic was an Audio Technica AT4040, the mic preamp was one of the channels in my Allen&Heath Mix Wizard 16:2 and the IR was captured with the Axe II. BTW, to me the IR's seem to work good with the Dirty Shirley, I am really liking that model, I was actually ready to buy the amp when I heard it...

Low-end garbage, what am I doing wrong ???

Yes, I actually started with a factory preset that used a different amp so I needed to change the amp to get to the Fastrod, and I also kept switching between the Dirty Shirley and the Fastrod. I already shut everything down, but I believe when you reset the amp block it resets everything to...

Low-end garbage, what am I doing wrong ???

Low-end garbage, what am I doing wrong ???

First let me say that I don't think this is a Version 7 issue, I've had this problem all along but I didn't realize how bad it was until I tried the Fastrod. Go to factory preset #9, change the amp to the Fastrod, hit the BYPASS twice to reset the amp block, turn the drive up to 8.15 and...

LPD Tone Clone Splawn Quickrod Amp Match

That would be my guess too, but I can hear a difference, it is most obvious in the First Gear OD2 clip. Either way, I do have a Quick Rod and I have to say that the OP did a great job, very impressive.

    "Tone Matching" Preview

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I get the impression that this is not even close to "profiling" like the KPA does it. It seems like he is taking an existing amp in the Axe II and "EQ Matching" it (for lack of a better word) to the source. Not that this is bad or anything, I just think that...

Kemper: so far, the axe-fx 2 stays

It is very useful and very much appreciated!
  66. T

The thread about adding profiling is gone

I can see some really serious developments coming from all this. Cliff seems recognize the part of profiling that people seem to find so attractive, I wouldn't be surprised if he came up with a hybrid of sorts, part modeler and part profiler. The games have really just began, I suspect that this...

    Dweezil Zappa and Frank Gambale

I thought Dweezil Zappa was playing the Axe Ultra and Frank Gambale was playing the Axe II. If that's the case, who is playing the first lead? And, what are we hearing? The Axe direct to the console or a mic'd Atomic or what?
  70. T

    Dweezil Zappa and Frank Gambale

Which one is which? I really like the first lead guitar tone, I'm hoping that's the II. Either way, what incredible guitar players, dang, I really need to go practice, for another 30 years.

    How close is too close?

See this thread: http://forum.fractalaudio.com/axe-fx-ii-discussion/41140-there-some-tubes-there-my-axe-ii-microphonic.html If the Axe II is microphonic to some degree, I wonder if mounting it in the speaker cab will result in feedback, Just a thought...

We Lost a Long Time Moderator?

But these "few people" you are referring to are probably not the reason he left, it's more likely that the person you need to talk to is Cliff, and I'd suggest that you don't tell him to take his balls and go home :)
  76. T

We Lost a Long Time Moderator?

It's not terribly complicated, if you insult 95% of the people that you interface with (conservatively speaking), sooner or later you'll insult the wrong guy and there will be consequences. It breaks my heart but I will get over it :)
