Actually I have three guitars hooked up to my axe fx...I control them with a small non powered 4 channel mixer mixer. I use all 4 channels because the third guitar is a MIDI guitar and I can run one line from the guitar to my MIDI equipment and another 1/4 inch line for just the guitar sounds...

I never said they were not there..I said that they were harder to get to...for someone like me who is not used to programming. And to set up the axe so that the sounds can hold out would be hard for me also. Not EVERYONE is a programmer dude! This pedal makes it MUCH easier to use...

I left the boat on FW11, about to comeback, need advice!

+1! I have not had ANY trouble getting a great sound and I am on firmware 10. Do not miss my ultra at all. I MAY update again someday, but I am enjoying what I have and do not want to mess with my preset settings all over again just to update.

I think the FX8 would go great with a product like the Black Widow MPG-1A all analog guitar pre amp modeler! It has no effects on it at all, only 9 basic amps and will cost $2,299.00. (About the price of an axe fx...still if you want an all tube pre amp modeler in a 2 space rack this is it)...

You have a quite weird situation! Usually....it is the guitar player that has the axe fx and programs it also. You may want to let HIM decide on what he likes to use! Weather it is a marshall stack or axe fx II....I think the important thing is that HE is comfortable with the gear he has on...

Axe-FX II Vs XL

Cliff ALREADY SAID that this will NOT be affecting the new IR's for regular II users. Both units will be able to use them. I just do not need 500 presets when I use 20 NOW. Most people would not. I don't think the new IR's are going to make a difference at all!

I remember that "countdown" all too well! People selling their Ultras for 800 bucks! I just laughed at their stupidity! But you know what? I predict the exact same THING will happen when the axe fx III comes out! Some people NEVER learn!

Just about had it

The tube amp he needs depends on what sound he is looking for. There are some folks who will only be happy with a tube amp sound..... but as far as the quest....yes it will be the same thing as going from IR to IR you would just be going from tube amp to tube amp. Still it is easier...

Resistant to Upgrade?

You guys ARE playing in the same BAND correct? I did not know that the name of the game was to blow the other guitarist in the SAME BAND out of the water, but to make the BAND itself sound the best it could.... But I do agree that there is no doubt about what the axe fx II can do.
