Could be, I'm going to run more tests tonight based on the suggestions in this thread - either way I'm sure g66 will sort it out next week. My only bugbear is that I was looking forward to recording with the Axe-Fx this weekend.

Agreed, it may sound like an input problem but I've checked all connections before and after crackling - different guitars, different cables (all Bullet and if you've used them you'll know they can't be yanked out easily and sit snug in sockets). From my experience and testing so far, it seems...
