I've gigged the new firmware twice - sounds awesome, no issues. I've reset some amps, left others. If you select a preset and it sounds good, play. If you think it needs some adjustment, reset the amp, tweak and play. That's it. After the show last night, people thought it sounded killer...

I see the show tomorrow in Atlanta. Huge Nuno fan. I dig Living Colour as well, although I don't really get a lot of Vernon's soloing - more of a wall of sound approach I suppose. But they've got some good tunes in their catalog.

    Underwhelming Live Recordings

If your recorded guitar is basically amp/cab, throw some reverb onto the guitar track(s) to make it sound more like it did in the room. Just a straight raw guitar track will seem pretty lifeless without some reverb on it (unless that's what you're going for).

Nice. I'd kinda gotten away from the Ibanez guitars for a long time, but the JS series was always interesting to me. When I learned the neck was more of a Strat-ish profile than a Wizard, I made the jump and am happy.

Who else never really uses the drive block(s)?

Yes, Nuno was basically a Rat into a JCM800 setup for the early days. He mostly uses the Rat as an EQ, to cut the low end off of the tone so that he can get his snappy muting to really pop. He wouldn't add much/any drive from the Rat. You can probably do the same thing w/o the Rat just using...
