I regret your situation. Blown speakers and a constantly lasting protection mode usually indicate a much more serious fault. Cheers

    Matrix GT1000FX 1u Powering Off

Yes, it's the best sounding amp for the Axe-Fx IMO because they use fast mosfet power transistors and not a bipolar or digital power section. I put in a high quality chip socket after removing the faulty chip first so the soldering job is done already, should this happen again. Cheers

    Matrix GT1000FX 1u Powering Off

Hey Morbid, Thank you very much for your May 2015 info. My 6 year old Matrix GT1000FX behaved exactly the way you described some days ago. After replacing the TOP242PN everythings works well again, so I thought it would be no bad idea pointing to the info you shared.

Any tips for cutting through live with FRFR

What Cliff said in #19 and #57. Try this factory IR combination for gainy sounds: No 064 4x12 30W (Ultra) and No 105 4x12 Rumble EV12L RNR1 50:50 both panned center (a simple equally weighted mix of both which can be done within the axe using the "Stereo" cab option). I tried many different IRs...

CLR non NEO magnt split in half/ replacement?

as the printing on the speaker tells it is an Eminence speaker made in Dongguan China, but it seems to be a special one with an extremely small and tight dustcap that was exclusively produced for Atomic. This is necessary because there is only a relatively small space left between the dustcap of...

From Own Hammer Newsletter 2015 Week 18 News: "- Due to external and internal factors, .syx formatted files are no longer provided for the Fractal Audio Systems platforms. However, the .wav files appropriate for conversion are separated out, as was done previously for Ultra-Res...

    Broken Input board. Any ideas?

Ask G66 (the European distributor for Fractal) for repair. Even if this board needs to be replaced as a whole, it should not be excessively expensive. If other parts on other boards are destroyed as well, this could be another thing. You need to send the unit to them of course. Otherwise they...

    Rehearsal with FW17.03

There's more: 17.04 Improved power amp modeling. This results in better touch sensitivity, more explosive dynamics and improved low note clarity when the virtual power amp is driven hard. Improved power amp cathode squish accuracy by accounting for dependency on bias point.

Question Matman's boost trick and VU

Yes, I use this since the Standard Axe days, but with 112/127 which is an exact copy of the volume reduction I had inserted into my Mesa Mk3 I used before the Axe came.
  19. E

Question Matman's boost trick and VU

No change for Dynamics and punch. It's only a volume reduction. The "Solo" position when using your MFC means 127/127 (=Full volume) and is the same level as if the MFC is disconnected. When you plug in your MFC, the "Normal" position (=110/127, no Solo) is activated and the volume is reduced...

How often are you using your USB/Midi In, Midi Out/Thru jacks?

I had such a problem too. It turned out to be a ground loop problem between the MIDI socket (cable shielded) GND and the GND of the (Neutrik-) USB socket via the common panel. How often are you using your USB/Midi In, Midi Out/Thru jacks?

I use MIDI for connecting my MFC to the Axe2 when playing live (my Axe2 and MFC are both older non- FASLink units. FASLink makes the difference of course!). Tips on how to "sit in the mix"

This is fine but I found out it's a difference listening to your mix while playing and listening to a record of the front mix afterwards. For BillyZeppa: Please take a look at #17. In addition to this: Switching from Hi-res to normal-res is something quite different. This defines the quality of the IR (cab simulation) you use within your current preset. Sorry if I was inaccurate. The High Resonance is a parameter that can...

  48. E

Looking for that clean but definitely NOT direct sounding preset...

The High Resonance is usually set at a default of something like 5,83 for the most presets. While reducing this on high gain presets needs extreme care (not to get lost in the band suddenly) it works well with clean sounds and makes them fatter. The High Resonance Frequency can be used to fine-...
