Crackles in FRFR and headphones

Need help on Noise Gate

Check to make sure that it's not your trem springs or the strings on the headstock or behind a fixed bridge that are ringing out after you damp the strings. I damp these things on my metal guitars using foam and it makes a huge difference.

ProTools can't see Axe-II after updates

If you're thinking of buying Protools 10 for $500, you should consider buying an Eleven Rack, which you can currently find bundled with a full Protools 10 license + iLok + Expansion pack, for ~$750. Then you would have a good, cheap backup rig for $250 extra, or you could probably flip the 11R...

To anyone else who also just received their Axe-Fx II ... how is your fan noise?

When you replace your fan, make sure you remove the screws in the back last, or you might strip a screw that gets bound up in the chassis when the stress from the rear screws is relieved.

Anyone with a II try to cop an SRV tone yet?

It's amazing how faithfully the Youtube audio compression can reproduce that three-note digital squishiness coming out of the Axe FX, into a power amp of some sort, recorded by some unknown setup. They must have hired Cliff to write their algorithms. Sorry, this is an old trope and I'm tired...

Will you buy an Axe FX II?

If the people who get an Axe 2 don't immediately flip it on eBay for $500+ profit, they're crazy. I'm even willing to bet there's a small international market that will pay 2100 Euros for an Axe 2, without warranty, shipped. That's $1,000 profit.

Mark Day needs an AXE II

I always thought Fractal didn't make the strongest case for buying the Axe Fx - but Mark and some other users did. I bought my Ultra after watching some of Mark's videos. For a company that relies on word of mouth for their advertising, Mark is definitely a strong asset and should be given...

POD HD500 controlling Axe FX - a new report

Thanks for bumping this thread, I was looking for it! The control knobs do not send MIDI data, unfortunately. The way I have it set up, the Master Volume knob does allow you to easily vary the level sent to Output 1 on the Axe from the floorboard. The 1.31 firmware resolved my issues with MIDI...

Recently purchased an Ultra or Standard?

So who bought the couple of units that the power users sold for full retail price in the last few weeks? They are the ones with a right to complain because they were taken advantage of by preferred users who knew their Axes would be depreciating immediately after sale.

What's the best deal you ever got on music gear?

Two weeks ago at a yard sale, a '95-96 Jackson DR3 MIJ with the awesome graphite finish, sharkfin inlays, great frets and hardware (Takeuchi FR), original HSC, including the original instruction manual, pickups had been upgraded to EMG 81/85 combo (now with 18v mod). The guitar had two stickers...

AxeFxer needs Line 6 HD Help?

This is actually what I do. I use a 4 cable method, with the Axe making all the noise and the HD500 handling MIDI control as well as the looper and USB recording. I have not tried a single POD patch yet...!

I am in sporadic contact with support at Line6 about the expression pedal sending Bank Change messages. Maybe it will trickle up and get incorporated into an update (which are pleasingly common!). The 1.22 firmware update does fix a problem with the foot pedal not storing it's minimum value...

Adventures in fan replacement! IXP-34-16/12/8 and FD-FAN-60

Another update, this time BAD NEWS. The HD500 sends Bank Change MSB commands when switching to a patch that has EXP1 or EXP2 configured for MIDI output. It is unclear why it does this, but it changes to bank 127 (!) and 0 alternately, causing the Axe to retrieve patches from Bank 3 and Bank 1...

OK, got tap tempo working (CC 14). You set an option on the HD500 to display the tap tempo light. The tempo is the same between the HD500 and the Axe but the lights are not exactly synchronized.

Producer question about the so called Axe-PC Plugin

+1! - I made an account just to support this, what a good start! I run Win2K, but was wondering if the LED connection on the Axe will work still, I had some peripherals with LEDs that would not open when connected to my computer. Maybe it's a driver problem with Win2k... though. Not sure about...
