Of course! There are non-powered versions of FRFR monitors. Many run their matrix into a standard guitar cab. Some cab solutions have (near) full-range speakers as well. Peruse this forum, there are lots of threads on this topic. I run EV FRFR powered monitors with which I'm quite happy but I'm...

    Axe FX II Ad!

Wow, those are some great renderings! If I may, and, not being critical of your amazing handywork, but I noticed a couple inaccuracies (on my unit, maybe newer ones are different): "OUTPUT LEVELS" should read "LEVELS" and the knob pointer indicators should be dots.

    Intermittent crash when USB connected?

    V8 and V9 Patches on V7

I understood but maybe my response wasn't clear, sorry. Slightly different approach: Get the version of AE that supports firmware 7 and load a similar preset or set it from scratch. On your AxeFx with V9 load your preset and visually set the common parameters to your AE session and save it...

    Axe fx II schematics ?

Hmmm, good luck with getting that :) On a serious note, if you are doing a dissertation on this technology I assume you have knowledge of DSP circuit design for audio applications?? What I would do is get the reference designs for the DSP chips, A/D & D/A converters, etc. from the...

Recording Two Axe-Fx II at the Same Time?

The AxeFx USB interface is class compliant so both devices *should* show up as separate audio interfaces; just map the devices in your DAW & create tracks. Alternatively you can use the output 1/2 from the AxeFx into a 2 channel (4 for stereo) audio interface connected to your laptop.

    Notch/Bandbass filter curves differ?

    This I believe:
  31. bobby_g

    Notch/Bandbass filter curves differ?

This was what I meant by in parallel: there's one stage but each filter section operates in parallel of the signal (at least this is how I interpret the schematic) Thanks :)
  32. bobby_g

    Notch/Bandbass filter curves differ?

In series will work too depending on design. A graphic EQ does not run each band in series with the next stage/band, they are all in parallel and then summed up. Many amp tone circuits are parallel as well and summed in the next amp stage.
  33. bobby_g

    Notch/Bandbass filter curves differ?

    ^ or that!
  34. bobby_g

    Notch/Bandbass filter curves differ?

I imagine you can sum (ie., not placed in series) the outputs of a low pass filter and a high pass filter into a mixer?? If the lowpass cutoff freq is lower than the high pass cutoff freq, it will reject a band that is the difference between the two cutoff freqs. Strictly speaking I believe...
  35. bobby_g

    Notch/Bandbass filter curves differ?

The graphs represent a desired (relative) amplitude of the signal. Imagine a graphic EQ with a 1000 bands spaced at 10hz per band. Set all of them to zero except one band, set that one to its max. You now have a band-pass at that freq. Now set all the bands at their max except one, set that to...
  36. bobby_g

    Notch/Bandbass filter curves differ?

well in a sense yes, one is pass everything but this, the other don't pass anything but this. Q makes dip or spike narrower or broader. Maybe I stated the obvious but yes, one is the mathematical inversion of the other.

Can we have different forum corners based on gear we use?

btw, I was referring to making AxeChange the centerpiece for a well-organized preset exchange with properly organized search terms, etc., where users could search for presets with specific gear. Maybe users *could* even link to recordings. I missed the forum corner piece in the OP, whoops!
  48. bobby_g

Can we have different forum corners based on gear we use?

This is a great idea & would be very helpful. The issue arises when people: don't fill the data out, spell correctly, or use jargon/nicknames/trade names instead proper model names. It could be made mandatory to complete all fields or better yet, to have drop down lists of equipment, the latter...

Scenes: is it possible to switch between them using a sequencer/DAW?

The wiki is your friend. You'd send CC messages from Ableton which I'm pretty sure you can do. Preset scene - Axe-Fx II Wiki Creating one preset with different scenes will be more effective for live performance because it is considerably faster and the spillover is homogenous.

  53. bobby_g

Anyone ever change the scale on their strat?

I think you have to consider the the placement of the pickups too because the string nodes change physically as a result of the shorter length. Longer scales require higher tension and makes them a little more chimey sounding as opposed to the warmer sound of shorter scales. This is a major...

randomisation of deep parameters to emulate real world variances

  59. bobby_g

randomisation of deep parameters to emulate real world variances

Well, all discrete components in the analog world (capacitors, resistors, inductors (including chokes & transfromers) have a tolerance in percentages, usually +/- .1, 1, 5, 10, 20, +5/-20, etc. for a given temperature range. So a component with a value of 1000 could really range from 9950 to...
