Adjusting Volume Level Across All Presets

Looking for the best way to adjust volume levels so that all presets are initially loaded at the same relative volume level. Axe Fx support recommended adjusting the "Level" control in each preset's amp block. Is this the best way or are there other solutions.

Guitar Pickups & Axe Fx II XL

I like the idea of the pickup height -- I hadn't even thought about this as a solution. Lowering the pickup height might add some of the individual string definition back into the mix and make the sound less saturated (close proximity to the magnet).

Guitar Pickups & Axe Fx II XL

I'm in a band that gets together every week (like bowling night) and jams together. We play just for fun and don't venture out into public (yet!). We play all kinds of music -- everything from pristine Steely Dan to heavily saturated Neil Young. We're all over the map. My question about guitar...

Guitar Pickups & Axe Fx II XL

I agree with you that removing dirt or drive is harder than adding it in the Axe Fx preset you create. What low to mid gain pickup would you recommend.

Guitar Pickups & Axe Fx II XL

I'm a relatively new user and have a question regarding guitar pickups and the Axe Fx II XL. Several years ago I replaced the stock pickups in my Strat with Seymour Duncan Hot Rails (high output with DCR 16.6K in the bridge where I mostly play) to punch up my sound. Playing through an old Fender...

Background Noise In Brand New Axe-Fx II

I'm glad to see your comment as it represents my position exactly. It appears from the other comments I've gotten that everyone experiences this problem and makes adjustments using the noise gate. I frankly don't understand why Fractal didn't eliminate the noise in the modeling process as it is...

Background Noise In Brand New Axe-Fx II

I agree with you that high gain amps are noisy, but not having owned or experienced live an Axe FX unit I assumed that Fractal Audio in their careful crafting of the modeling would have eliminated the undesirable aspect of the background noise without altering the unique sound of each...

Background Noise In Brand New Axe-Fx II

From the responses I'm getting it sounds like some degree of background noise is present for everyone. The clean amp presets definitely have less noise (i'm not sure there is none) than the high gain. Now that I suspect background noise is a condition that exists for everyone, i will just try to...

Background Noise In Brand New Axe-Fx II

The high gain amps definitely have louder background noise and the lower gain less -- I'm just surprised how "present" the background noise is. The noise quality varies greatly, some sounding like standard amp noise while some of the others sound different, so it would be hard for to make a...

Background Noise In Brand New Axe-Fx II

The guitar doesn't have active pickups but there is an active eq filter switch. I had it set to off, but I suppose it could still have an effect. The pickups are also Seymour Duncan Hot Rails which are high gain pickups and could also have an effect (I should have put that info into my...

Background Noise In Brand New Axe-Fx II

I just purchased a brand new Axe FX II over the holidays. I've finally gotten around to firing it up. The first thing to strike me was how much background noise I have in each preset. The noise is different and at different levels depending on the preset selected. That's the strange part for me...

    Axe-Fx And High Output Pickups

    Thanks for the info . . . sounds like a non-issue . . .

    Axe-Fx And High Output Pickups

I am close to purchasing a Fractal Audio Axe-Fx unit and want to throw out a question to determine if it has any relevance. I'm currently using a Line 6 Spider Valve amp (Bogner Tube configuration) which utilizes "modeling" to achieve a wide range of sounds. My main guitar is a Strat with...
