Problems with MFC 101 and Expression Pedals

I checked and the external controllers are set correctly both in the MFC & the Axe 2. XP2 is set to CC17 on the MFC and CC17 is External 2 on the Axe. Something is wrong. It was working fine yesterday. Unless somebody has additional input, I think I'll try Fractal support.

Problems with MFC 101 and Expression Pedals

I did both. Calibration is fine. I plugged the pedal that IS working on EP1/ Ext 1 into EP2 and set it to external 2--no dice. So, its not the pedal, the cable or calibration. Also tried using EP3 & 4 with no luck (though I never used those B4) Only EP1 is working with External 1...

I am trying to set up my old Axe 2 for a friend (I''m using the 3). Everything was working OK and then, for some unexplained reason, Expression pedal 2 stopped working. I use EP2 to control delay mix. Its always worked fine (even yesterday). But, now, EP2 does not change delay mix...

Hi All. This is probably a dumb question but I searched forum and fractal website and could not find the answer. I'm thinking of bringing my Axe 2 out of retirement for a buddy to use. Is Axe Edit 3 compatible with the Axe 2? Logic tells me it would be but I needed to be sure. Thx!

Help on Tone Match or IR?

I just watched a couple of Ola's videos. After seeing what he is doing, it is clear that sticking an SM57 off center to the cone is not going to cut it. I've got a lot of nice mics and can do what Ola is doing. But, how to turn this into an IR??? I think all of this is what Cab Lab...

I had not. I just looked at a couple and he seems to be demonstrating micing tecniques. He's not using the Axe, right? I'm good with micing cabs and my amp sounds perfect to me in the room. I'm just not quite sure the best way to capture that in an IR or Tone match. I did a simple...

Help on Tone Match or IR?

Sorry if this is a bit of a "newbie" question. But, I've checked the Wiki and other posts and am still a little confused. I have been using the Axe since early Ultra days and I LOVE it! I had a lot of issues early on with the "cab in the room" missing and, about 10 years ago, found the...

. This is exactly why I posted this. Both of the other displays, AFX and FC12 are showing me (relatively ) in tune but that strobe is still moving pretty good. This is true on all strings and all guitars.. now, the strobe should be the most accurate, right? So, I tune to the strobe...

Quick question: new to Solid State

Thx JoeGold! I will check/ try all above. I should note that this isn't a "problem" The Bryston/ EVs sound awesome! I just expected them to be insanely loud. They are VERY loud. And, my hearing is definitely impaired so there is that. It's the Hiwatt/ Bryston comparison that throws me...

Quick question: new to Solid State

OK. I checked VUs. I am getting identical output levels on both output 1 and output 2 (about 80% of max on VU). Still, with Output 1 (to Bryston) at 100%, it is loud but definately nowhere near a loud as my 100w Hiwatt DR103s thru same cabs (not even 1/2 as loud). I do notice that the...

Proper Exp pedal settings to accomplish this?

Thank You! As long as the vol blocks don't affect CPU too much, that is the solution.

Quick question: new to Solid State

Thx. Will try VU. Was using the output knobs to control these 2 outputs. I have 2 (RCFs) set to max and 1 set to 75% (trying to make sure EVs don't get too much). But, I figured I'd need 1 at about 25% to tame that Bryston. Very surprised it is not blowing up my face. Gotta be something...

Quick question: new to Solid State

Yeah, it didn't sound right to me either. I expected the Bryston/ EVs to be INSANELY loud. That's why I asked question above. But, yes, my levels are all optimized. And, the same signal (w/ a cab) is going to the RCFs via FXL and is REALLY loud. But, Output one (amp w/ no cab) going to...

Proper Exp pedal settings to accomplish this?

I am redoing my rig, resetting MFC to do things a bit differently. I'd like exp pedal (1) to control the output levels of BOTH Output one and output of FXL (I am using outputs one and 2 to different places). I DON'T want a "pre-amplifier" volume pedal. I want a post amp volume pedal that can...

Quick question: new to Solid State

That is the answer, I think. The RCFs are WAY brighter. I am running them simultaneously (FRFR + Cab in the Room) w/ Output 1 (no cab) to Bryston and Output 2 via FXL (w/ cab) to RCFs. What I'm doing is blending the 2. So, by controlling the level of the RCFs (down X Db and using a bit of EQ...

Quick question: new to Solid State

Played 4 hours last night with this setup. It is AWESOME !!! A total game changer! Will be posting my rig and results in separate post. But, interestingly, it is not that loud--at least not to a guy who lost 30% of my hearing 20 years before they invented IEMs :( I am running out of...

Axe Edit and MFC Mk 1: Can they coexist?

Years ago (Ultra days), I gave up on trying to make these 2 "cooperate". Last night, I tried again and got repeated "communication time outs" in Axe Edit whenever I messed with MFC. I am back to doing a lot of preset editing (new rig) with Axe Edit and MFC on and wondering if anything has...

    Which MFC?

Similar question... I have an Axe FX 2 w/ MFC Mk 1. I'm about to upgrade to Axe 2 XL+. Is there any big reason to buy the new MFC? Mine has plenty of switch options for me, doesn't travel (so durability not a biggie). Is there really good big reason to spend another $650? Would rather...

    Syncing Axe via Midi

    Thx! Works perfectly.

Quick question: new to Solid State

I talked to Bryston. They said that the 4B SST is "happiest" running into an infinite load and that 4/8/16 doesn't really matter as far as "safety". However, given my Cabs (w/ 2 X EVM-12Ls that will handle 400w/ pair), the ideal match is to run at 4 (as Joegold said) which will produce 400w/...

    Did I make a mistake?

I have the Axe 2 and am going to buy the AX8 too. Why? simple portability. When I am traveling or playing where I do not need the "full meal deal", the Axe8 will be PERFECT. When I want the Axe 2 (mostly in the studio where I want AES I/O for reamping...) the Axe is a more "useful" tool. I...

    Syncing Axe via Midi

I am experimenting, for the 1st time, with syncing Axe (primarily for delays) to my Pro Tools HD rig. Do I need to change any settings in the axe to "hear" midi clock and sync or is this just automatic? I know I've seen a lot of discussion re: MTC vs midi clock My Axe is connected to Pro...

Recoding signal for reamping without usb

Now, let's take this one step further: would it be possible (beneficial?) to keep the reamp signal entirely digital? If I send back out of Protools via Lynx Aurora AES into Axe AES input, then I've eliminated D/A and A/D on both ends, right? Signal stays digital all the way from Axe to Pro...
