Axe-Fx II "Ares" Rev 2.00 Firmware Release

From a serious tweeker of 45 years. e.g. Toneaholic's Anonymous For me, with the onset of Ares, The AxeFx reached the level of plug and play. Thank You Cliff P.S. I'm 67yrs Rockin' and still jamming

Axe-Fx II "Ares" Rev 2.00 Firmware Release

Quite a journey, and mind blowing.
  4. B

Axe-Fx II "Ares" Rev 2.00 Firmware Release

Went back and forth between Ares 1.03 and 2.00. Just when u think it can't get no better, it does, double THX.

Axe-Fx II "Ares" Rev 1.02 Firmware Release

Fractal Audio Systems, it just doesn't get any better . . .
  9. B

Axe-Fx II "Ares" Rev 1.00 Firmware Release

. . . well, once a tweaker, always a tweaker. (Im working on that), but for the most part, I find that I can control quite a range of gain or intensity with the output volume on the guitar along with the tone controls.
  10. B

Axe-Fx II "Ares" Rev 1.00 Firmware Release

Ares upgrade, for me, instant gratification. 1) clean and clear touch sensitive dynamics 2) seemingly broader dynamic range 3) "stringyer" sound. More string nuance heard. More complex tone. More guitar identity heard. 4) easier to dial in tone, more playing, less tweeking THX
  11. B

Axe-Fx II "Ares" Rev 1.00 Firmware Release

. . . Definitely, Ares is a considerable improvement, just when I'm thinking, it can't get much better. And they didn't have to do it. If only more companies had this ethic.

Axe-Fx II Firmware "Ares" 1.00 Public Beta

Jammed on 10.01 for a couple hours, dug the heck out of preset built out of 025, Friedman amp. Loaded Ares 1.0 beta, same preset and yes, crazy tone filled, dynamic touch sensitive inspiration, instantly renewed my plans of obtaining a III. Thanks again Cliff and all that made it possible.

    Presenting... The Axe-Fx III

It appears that the Axe-Fx lll multi layered circuit board technology, is on the cutting edge, right on down to the thru holes: http://www.fujikura.co.jp/eng/rd/gihou/backnumber/pages/__icsFiles/afieldfile/2010/04/19/39e_09.pdf

I absolutely love your Tesla icon, but I personally believe the AxeFx lll interface will be awesome.

    Axe-Fx III Wish List

Wish List for RTA block, 1) external mic feed for remote reference mic 2) connected matched graphic eq to compensate for room efficiencies or deficiencies in freq responce 3) appropriate noise source for calibration

Fixed 48k Sample Rate Impedes Recording Studio Integrations

Behringer ultramatch pro src2496 sample rate converter. around 2 or 3 hundred $
  22. B

So What's New on the III? ...(Axe-Fx II vs III)

It would be cool if you could inject a noise source into the RTA and the unit could sample a few room points with an external mic. Automatic global EQ for room flatness.

Are there more delay lines hidden in the magic box?

I was a beta tester for the PCM80. It has only a few algorithms, but they are super comprehensive. My suggestion is digitally connect the PCM80 to the spdif outs and run it in parallel with the AxeFx into a basic line mixer or second input of a Atomic Clr if u have them. Makes me wish I still...

    Axe FW's longevity?

Heck, I was coppin' great tones with my old Ultra until about 4mo's ago, before I sold it. While still owning an AxeFxll.. The way I look at it is, getting new firmware (AxeFxll) is like being a painter(artist) and obtaining a broader pallet of colors. Don't always need all of them, but your...

Personally, I feel quality cables do make a difference.

Anyone wish for a better looper?

It has been a while since I've done this but, possible to seemingly double looper/dly time, when playing against midi drums, by sending midi clk divided by 2 to looper or double midi clk sent to midi drums and then change tempo to 1/2 its rate. Time is relative.
  31. B

    Update,...

    Kinda Cool Info Regarding Strings

recently tried "Thin Core" Boomers Took me a bit to get used to them, usually use NYXL Balanced Tension. Would like to try the strings in this new study, very interesting.
  34. B

    "Hands-free" parameter editing?

That would be very cool. There are many CC type work arounds if your assign CC' s ahead of time. Some paramaters may requier Syx commands. None as easily implemented as would using the "big wheel" to conntroller idea. If possible .
  35. B

AES input points inside the Axe?

using digital ports for an efx loop definitely would be a cool upgrade
  36. B

AES input points inside the Axe?

AES input goes to AxeFx input, AES output comes from the output. The USB can be assigned. If you do what you said with AES in's and out's, it will result in feedback, I presume.

    Bug? Delay hold

Good old "infinite repeats" Circa 1985 Delta Lab 1024 Perhaps not a bug per say, but just the way it was implemented.
  38. B

    Bug? Delay hold

This maybe a repeat . . . Delay hold degrades even with the eq flat.

I'm not familiar with the FS-6, maybe the 3cond. tip/ ring/ sleeve interconnect/ plug from the pedal needs to be reconfigured. The wiring is available from Morningstar website. Also the pedal input on the MC6 has to be switched to pedal instead of switch. Hopefully this has helped.

I've got my Ultra up for sale, still love the sound of it. I still have my AxeFx mkll but now but after reading all the above, now I want an AX8, too. The AX8 has a great control layout, looks very intuitive.

The drive block is finally "there"

The drive block is finally "there"

I have a rams head muff and a black finger compressor (not tube type) from the same era wired up comp into fuzz. The comp has a low cut tone control. I put a foot switch to be able to select all pass or full low cut on the compressor, giving me two pre eq's for the muff'. By cutting the pre lows...
