ANYONE USE THIS IN A PROFESSIONAL ENVIRONMENT?

Connect the Axe FX III to your audio interface via SPDIF or AES/EBU. In the Axe FX III's I/O Settings menu, you can choose which digital protocol you want to use. You must use 48kHz sample-rate when doing this. You can connect the Axe FX III to your computer via USB for Axe Edit functionality...

SLO. Anybody digging this model? Am I missing the point?

One of the best amps around IMO. My friend has one, and I've got a 2018 multi-watt Dual Recto. We had them side by side weekend before the one just gone, and as a pair they just really rock together. I'm on the understanding the the Dual Rectifier preamp is quite similar to the SLO100, but the...

Wish Workflow improvement - select a block and move it with arrow keys

Personally I wouldn't nerf or avoid this feature to suit the FM3. For example, the big knob is the one to use.. not the smaller encoder. Maybe the FM3 could use a smaller encoder, but I wouldn't make more difficult or less intuitive to use on the Axe III just to suit the FM3. When you select a...

If you are on an empty block that has nothing in it (not even a shunt) ... change the DELETE quick action on knob 2, to 'DELETE COLUMN' and change the ghosted out 'BYPASS' quick action on knob 3 to 'DELETE ROW' This would allow a user to quickly delete out a parallel path or a column slice from...

Go to either layout view. Go to a block to highlight it. Push big rotary encoder. (nothing currently assigned to this command from what I can see) Block is selected. Use left/right/up/down keys to move the block around the layout. Press encoder again to drop it.

    Wish Block library on hardware

Yeah I thought about that. But ideally this is something where you load a block preset, and it isn't linked to anything. It is just a starting point. Wish Block library on hardware

I don't know if this is even possible with the current generation, but I'd love to be able to store some block presets/block library to the hardware, and browse them in a simlar way to how we browse the algorithms themselves. I don't need thousands of slots. Just 8-16 would do. If this isn't...

    Questions about MV and headroom

Some amps sound good with power distortion, and some amps don't sound good. And it is often style dependent. For high-gain stuff, I typically don't want the power section doing very much in terms of distortion. But for edge of breakup tones, it can sometimes be nice. For instance on a Dual...

For a while I have wanted to do some blocks that would help me get up and running quickly. It might seem a bit silly, but this kind of stuff is useful to me. The idea here is to have a bunch of starter blocks that get me into the ballpark, and I can tweak from there. So first up is Hall...

Why is my SPDIF clipping when input 1 isn't?

I actually can't do that with my current setup. The Presonus Quantum that is my master card, doesn't allow any mixing or routing like that. You have to do it all in the DAW. So you will always incur some latency penalty. It isn't much, but it is there. The Discrete 8 Pro SC I have is slaved to...
  22. Orvillain

Why is my SPDIF clipping when input 1 isn't?

Actually... it sorta stands to reason that I could do this: 1. Use my Neve DI box as the dry DI signal. Record to a track in Reaper. 2. Use the THRU output on the Neve to go into the front of the Axe3. 3. SPDIF to Reaper from the Axe3. Stereo goodness if I want it. 4. When reamping from Reaper...
  23. Orvillain

Why is my SPDIF clipping when input 1 isn't?

Yeah, and trying to keep it in the digital realm as much as possible, without using the Axe3 as my audio interface because I have 16 channels of other bits of gear connected to my two main cards.
  24. Orvillain

Why is my SPDIF clipping when input 1 isn't?

So use spdif for the DI capturing, and use analog connections for the "amped wet" recordings? That makes sense. Means I can keep stereo effects on the amped stuff too. Hmmmmmm. Interesting. Could be a go-er.
  25. Orvillain

Why is my SPDIF clipping when input 1 isn't?

Ultimately I'm just trying to figure out a good recording and reamping workflow. I want to record a rough take with any preset, whilst also recording a DI.... and later on I want to be able to reamp that DI without really having to make any changes to patches or signal levels. Y'know.... just...
  26. Orvillain

Why is my SPDIF clipping when input 1 isn't?

Right. I see. Hmmmm. Yes, that more or less works. If I compare the same input signal split between my Neve DI box and using its THRU connection to also go to the Axe III at the same time, doing a -20dB adjustment on the Output 2 block, gets me within tolerance. But I have to set that up per...
  27. Orvillain

Why is my SPDIF clipping when input 1 isn't?

I'm running into the front of my Axe3 - so instrument input 1. This patch splits input 1 to an amp chain, and then dry goes straight through to the mixer. Amp chain panned left, dry signal panned right. Input 1 is not going into the red zone on the front of the unit at all. But it is...

  30. Orvillain

Wish Modifier capability for time values even when they are tempo sync'd

Here's one reason this would be cool. I'm imagining being able to attach an LFO to the time control in such a situation, to change the delay subdivisions semi-randomly. The input signal is just a basic synth tone from my Novation Summit. Everything else is coming from the Axe III.

This is what you get when you start expanding your block library currently: The sub-menu option disappears and you get the classic browser interface. Which is okay. But I'd really rather organise my files on disk by sub-folders that I choose the names of. So in the case of the above I could...

Pre's can make a difference, even with all controls flat, but the difference is usually subtle and it isn't the first place I'd look to make tonal changes (other than the built in EQ on said preamp) - you'll get way more variation on the core tone by changing the microphone or moving it around...

Actually, it gets said a lot by guitar centric people who believe themselves to be audio engineers of some kind. I've heard it countless times over the last 16 years since I started in the industry. The other thing people often say is to aim for -18dBFS to -12dBFS, as you've just said. But...
