    I run the AxeFX into the return of a Crate BV120H tube head. It sounds much more like a real amp to me than using a stereo solid state amp that I used before. The solid state amp didn't give that "in the chest" feeling that the tube amp gives. I guess the tube amp smooths out the tone too.

    Why speculate? Just try it out. My tone is pretty much perfect now. I always found something a little harsh in the 2K - 4K range, now it sounds perfect to me. Also it seems like you can turn up the presence a lot more and it will still sound great.

    I think that's a spring reverb. To me the spring reverb on the AxeFX sounds a bit more metallic than the sound I usually associate with a spring reverb though.
