5150 iii El34 FM3 Midi Connection Questions

Hi all, Picked up an EVH 5150 iii EL 34 50 watt head and would like to connect my FM3 via midi to use effects and channel switching. Any one have any tips on connecting? Do I use 4CM and midi? I have the EVH midi programming instructions and will attempt tonight. PC or CC? Thanks!

Has version 6.01 messed with anyone's tone matches?

After installing 6.01 many of the tone matches that I have downloaded here have more of a "out of phasey?" sound to them. I don't know if it is because the presets that I normally use with the new upgrade sound that much better to my ears or if something overall changed.

I am probably guilty on adding a more fat/full tone overall. I personally favor that over thin sounds...not that George's tone sounded thin at all. I will try it with a HBE. Thanks all!

Axe II or Ultra?

Both are great units...the Ultra has reached it's capacity for firmware upgrades. If you can live with that, great. Pick up a pre-owned Ultra and rock it! If not (like most here) (and you can swing the extra cash) go for the II. Mini review -The amp sims are more realistic to me, and simply it...

FOH/CAB Patch help......

In my experience the Shure IEM's really lack in delivering the sonic quality the Axe delivers. I was using them in church until I got a set of Westone IEM's. MAN! what a difference! Have you thought of trying different IEM's? Great investment in inspiring tone. Rock on man, patches sound great.

Cameron into a Dr. Z Stangray/ Z-Best Cab I plugged an Axe-FX 2 into the return of my effects loop (just using power amp) in my Dr. Z Stangray head and Zbest 212 cabinet. Speakers are a Celestion G12-65 and a G12H30. The Cameron Ch. 2 preset ROCKS. I am stoked. No power amp sims, or speaker...

I read somewhere that he used a Carvin head to achieve most of his tones. He is a KILLER guitarist and very, very underrated. I would love for someone to create his tone on the AXE!
