Free Mesa 4X12 Impulse Responses! Give 'em a try :)

Ah yeah sorry for the necro-bump. I only discovered your IRs about a month ago. They were perfect for the Metallica - Garage Inc tone I was trying to get, and the only ones that had the frequencies between 20-60hz that were similar to the isolated guitar tracks I was analyzing.

Free Mesa 4X12 Impulse Responses! Give 'em a try :)

Francesco, these IRs are just amazing. There's something about the low end and the mids that really work through my monitors. Most other IRs sound pretty thin compared to these 2. It's gonna be hard to steer myself away from just defaulting to these. :D

    Master Volume's Affect on Tone

Sometimes I wish I could tweak my master volume on my presets without affecting the output level so I can easily hear the difference without having to mess with level. It's so easy to be biased one way or another when tweaking if the actual volume decreases and increases.

    Tone Match Problem

No dice. It barely made a difference. I see other people's tonematches where the frequency curve on the tonematch block drops everything below 12k or so but it seems I can't produce the same results as them.

    Tone Match Problem

I'm thinking if I run white noise in the higher spectrum of frequencies I might be able to fix the issues that are happening with recorded guitar matches. Will report back if it works.

    Tone Match Problem

Ah so this is why some people were asking for a frequency range option. Makes sense now. I wonder how people have worked around this to get nice tone matches from recorded guitars. What I've started doing is eschew the tone block and instead have been matching the frequency ranges in my daw...

    Tone Match Problem

Thanks for the reply Glenn appreciate it. After seeing the success that GuitarJon had tonematching metallica tones I was trying my hand at it as well. I thought the Axe had the tone match block for recorded tones and real amp matching in mind.
  12. A

    Tone Match Problem

I've been having issues trying to tone match similar to what the OP was talking about. My tone match ends up adding frequencies above 12khz and below 50hz whereas the reference track has nothing above 12khz and not boosted frequencies below 50hz. It's like the tonematch block is stretching the...

Thanks! I'm using 2 different patches. One is panned left and one right. I also used one of the 2 for the lead panned center. I believe the orange is right and the peavey is left. Also I believe I used the peavey for the lead.

    Robin Finck's Axe-FX II Presets

Hello, I was wondering if the Fractal rep who helped Robin with the Axe might be interested in gaining permission to share his preset banks with us. I've been trying to dial in a couple new Deadsy style patches on my Axe II and am pretty happy with where I'm at right now. There's quite a lot going on here but I'll break down what's making up the sound. I have a Recto patch on the left side and a boosted JCM 800 on the right. I also...

Axe-Edit + DAW + Guitar Tracking = Signal Cuts Out

Hey guys, I have an odd issue. When I'm tracking guitar in Cubase while Axe-Edit is open in the background I occasionally get some sort of MIDI issue where it's either being passed to or from the Axe (not sure which) but this causes the guitar signal to drop off for a second. It's not always...

Taming Boomy Low-End On Certain Notes

Well if it's room resonance I'm not that concerned so long as it can't be heard in my mixes. I'll try listening through headphones to see if it's still booming out. One thing that made me think it wasn't a node thing was that I had done a tonematch based on notes that were played lower on...

Taming Boomy Low-End On Certain Notes

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try the Cut again. When I tried it previously it took out a bit too much of the low end, this time I'll try to add some back in with Depth, or one of the other settings. My room could definitely use some treatment, however I've been dealing with it for years...

    Axe-FX II Tweaking Via Axe-Edit

    Axe-FX II Tweaking Via Axe-Edit

    Axe-FX II Tweaking Via Axe-Edit

OK so first impressions have been pretty good. I'm even liking the default presets so far. One thing that's driving me nuts is that when I have Axe-Edit open and I change the preset, it'll automatically go into one of the block's settings without staying on the main preset view. It's...

    Axiom For Tweaking Patches

I managed to get it working with a program called midi translator. The problem is that the controls turn pretty glitchy. They twitch and skip sometimes. I'm wondering if it's because of midi timing or something else. Either way, currently it's not worth it.

  75. A

Stephen Carpenter, the JMP1, and Diamond Eyes

Yeah I'm wondering how important that sub-bass is to the sound on that album. I remember reading that due to the low end on steph's guitars they'd mixed the bass differently. The thing I'm assuming is that I couldn't post-process more of a frequency that doesn't exisist in my signal, so I was...

    Dual Amp Patches

Well I tried the delay, all it did was add some horrible phasing issues. The two amps together don't really sound out of phase on their own, they do sound like they have less gain than when they're solo'd though. Really odd.
