Wow an 83 page thread. I had no idea that when I introduced everyone to Matrix amplification that this would take off in the way that it did. I even explained to the inventor why guitar players with an Axe FX would want such an amp. I am pleased that this has all worked out.

What did you kick in to get more drive in the middle of the solo? How are you running it with the Cornford? Sounds excellent. Also that suspended rack looks pretty heavy. Isn't it time for a light 2U???? :D

What is your budget? The Lab Gruppen would certainly do the trick at 14,000 watts, ha ha. You could also look at some of the Powersoft amps, 1 unit and very powerful.

Well if you don't believe certain power amps will add some "magic" element or at least add a bit of detail, then sell your Brystons and replace them with a cheap "neutral" alternative. You can come back and tell us how there is no difference in the sound. Rubbish.

D&B audiotechnik Max 12 or if you are using only 1 wedge than Max 15 (bigger but also bigger sound). They will have dealers in Austria. They are very very very very very good.

Not completely satisfied with the ART SLA-2

I have to agree with the previous two posters. I haven't tried the ART poweramps, so I am only having a guess here. It would seem as though they don't have quite enough power. However, the fact that they are 1U and affordable is still a very good advantage. If you are getting the sounds you like...

Yes that would probably be one of the best tube power amps you could get for the AXE. Very well made with tons of headroom. The 400 or the 395. The weight would be a pain but it might be worth it. That with the AXE would be one killer rig. It must sound amazing. I am jealous. Now you have me...

price difference in Europe...is this crazy?!?!

In the UK the made in Italy equipment like RCF and B&C is for some reason much higher priced than the rest of Europe. I could never figure this out.

Those RCF monitors are pretty serious. I priced some active ones, and they go for about £2,000 each (if they were the same ones). Good monitors will make all the difference, they will play loud and clear...

Another idea might be to get some second hand Mackie SRM450s. The original ones were RCF and are very good speakers. So don't go for v2. If you were careful, you might even be able to find a good active sub. The original 1500 subs from Mackie were also RCF so are very good. Just a thought. Found...

Its very strange, although the AXE fan is noisy, I think I have gotten used to it. The amp fan was a very loud high rpm whir. I just wasn't bright enough to realise that a fan could be an issue.

Well, rather than put down the company I should also say that the fan isn't squeaking or making funny noises it is just a high powered fan which the amp needs to keep cool. The amp was probably designed to drive huge subs at 2,500 watts in bridged mode so I am sure that high rpm fans are needed...

I spent 6 hours yesterday driving to get a power amp. I was sooooo pleased. The amp was two U but very very light, and puts out 670 watts a side into 8 ohms. I fought rush hour traffic and got home to try it out. I fired it up and guess what? The fan was so loud I couldn't even hear the Axe...

Just buy a passive Verve 12M and be done, in the end that's what your going to be making anyway. FBT has done all the R&D on the box and crossover and you will be money ahead with out all the hassles of building. Spending anything over $6-800 on a passive cab is over kill and I doubt you will...
