The new MATRIX GT800FX. THE amp for THE Axe-Fx

Wow an 83 page thread. I had no idea that when I introduced everyone to Matrix amplification that this would take off in the way that it did. I even explained to the inventor why guitar players with an Axe FX would want such an amp. I am pleased that this has all worked out.

Very cool setup. Can you trigger sounds inside the pc as well? Also I hope you share those patches as it sounds like you know how to dial "that" tone in perfectly.

    Wrecker love

What did you kick in to get more drive in the middle of the solo? How are you running it with the Cornford? Sounds excellent. Also that suspended rack looks pretty heavy. Isn't it time for a light 2U???? :D

    Wrecker love

I keep coming back to this amp. I am using what I think is the stock Beefy Rythm patch, which is the Wrecker 1 going into the Cali 4x12. There is something sooooooo realistic about this amp model, I can't put my finger on it. There is such a nice low end, that I almost want to dial out in fear...

    Best SS Power-Amp

What is your budget? The Lab Gruppen would certainly do the trick at 14,000 watts, ha ha. You could also look at some of the Powersoft amps, 1 unit and very powerful.

Pro Audio 1U ss Power amp review

Well if you don't believe certain power amps will add some "magic" element or at least add a bit of detail, then sell your Brystons and replace them with a cheap "neutral" alternative. You can come back and tell us how there is no difference in the sound. Rubbish.

I need your support! Which FRFR?

D&B audiotechnik Max 12 or if you are using only 1 wedge than Max 15 (bigger but also bigger sound). They will have dealers in Austria. They are very very very very very good.

    $1000 for speakers; help!

I know I sound like a broken record. Buy a pair of these http://www.prosoundservice.com/Product_ ... BC-12CXN76, I have even seen them cheaper at other places in the US. Have someone build you some wedge cabinets. You will also need crossovers. And these will be so good you will probably never...

Not completely satisfied with the ART SLA-2

I have to agree with the previous two posters. I haven't tried the ART poweramps, so I am only having a guess here. It would seem as though they don't have quite enough power. However, the fact that they are 1U and affordable is still a very good advantage. If you are getting the sounds you like...

looking for the perfect tube amp for the axe???....

Yes that would probably be one of the best tube power amps you could get for the AXE. Very well made with tons of headroom. The 400 or the 395. The weight would be a pain but it might be worth it. That with the AXE would be one killer rig. It must sound amazing. I am jealous. Now you have me...

In the UK the made in Italy equipment like RCF and B&C is for some reason much higher priced than the rest of Europe. I could never figure this out.

Re: Studio Monitors - How much difference will Adam A7s make Theirs only a few out there that people on this forum are using, FBT Verve and DB are the two that come to mind. I'm aware of most. What I'm curious about is which one Penge has good success with. Terry. Hi. I am actually using...

The new ultimate poweramps for the AXE?

I haven't actually tried the new Matrix amps yet, but I am sure they will be excellent. I understand they won't be out for a month and a half. They just announced the new amps a couple of weeks ago, and they look very interesting. The inventor has worked for B&W as well as several other...

Studio Monitors - How much difference will Adam A7s make?

Re: Studio Monitors - How much difference will Adam A7s make If you can afford it, try some ATCs. They really are one of the most accurate monitors out there. Keep an eye out for some SCM20s. I would guess they would translate to a PA type speaker pretty well. However I have never tried them...

    RCF Stage Monitor

Sorry I was thinking of these ones http://www.soundsliveshop.com/p/RCF_TT2 ... CF-TT25SMA However RCF makes some of the best drivers anywhere, so I can imagine the ones you tried were excellent.

FRFR for full band FOH and monitoring

Another idea might be to get some second hand Mackie SRM450s. The original ones were RCF and are very good speakers. So don't go for v2. If you were careful, you might even be able to find a good active sub. The original 1500 subs from Mackie were also RCF so are very good. Just a thought. Found...

    Poweramp purchasers beware

Again I would like to stress that I am not talking about a 1 U class D amplifier, but a quite powerful unit that is meant to run on 10 for days on end. So the amp was designed to be driven, and I just didn't take the fan into account. However when I get a chance to crank the f*** out of my...

    Poweramp purchasers beware

Its very strange, although the AXE fan is noisy, I think I have gotten used to it. The amp fan was a very loud high rpm whir. I just wasn't bright enough to realise that a fan could be an issue.
  24. P

    Poweramp purchasers beware

Well, rather than put down the company I should also say that the fan isn't squeaking or making funny noises it is just a high powered fan which the amp needs to keep cool. The amp was probably designed to drive huge subs at 2,500 watts in bridged mode so I am sure that high rpm fans are needed...

Help me build my AXE-FX Rig

Sell the Bogner and the Boogies. Keep the Bogner cab and get a 2x12 Recto cab (or another Bogner). Maybe get a Mesa 2:90 or older 395 for a poweramp, if you want to stick with tubes. As someone has mentioned, you will probably end up going FRFR anyways, so run into the effects returns of your...

    Poweramp purchasers beware

I spent 6 hours yesterday driving to get a power amp. I was sooooo pleased. The amp was two U but very very light, and puts out 670 watts a side into 8 ohms. I fought rush hour traffic and got home to try it out. I fired it up and guess what? The fan was so loud I couldn't even hear the Axe...

    Class D Questions

I am going through the same dilemma. I want something relatively light, but with around 600 watts a side into 8 ohms. I am also a bit weary of class D amps. They are probably good for power but maybe not so much for the mids and highs, which is all important to the guitar. I suppose a switch...

The new ultimate poweramps for the AXE?

I think I am going to order one of these Matrix poweramps. The company has just relaunched itself and they are very highly regarded in the live music scene here in the UK. They don't mislead with unrealistic power ratings, and even the look is perfect with the white lettering, to go with the...

To pull the trigger or not? Should I sell my tube gear?

I know it is a tough decision, but like you I have had countless tube amps, Marshalls, Boogies, old and new. I swore off digital years ago. However this thing is a game changer. You will not miss your Marshall. You will love taking a light setup around with you, and most of all you will love...

    Dual Concentric Wedges, Wow

I suppose I am being over the top about this. I just want to know that I can crank these things to 4x12 volumes and not have to worry about them clipping or blowing up. I have to admit I was completely spoiled by trying the D&B setup, it was like "yea I can live with this". If I did build 4...

Re: On stage monitoring-Axe/Atomics - band mix or just yours If you sing, I think it might be nice to just have your voice along with guitar in the monitor. Dual Concentric Wedges, Wow

Just buy a passive Verve 12M and be done, in the end that's what your going to be making anyway. Pro Audio 1U and 2U Power Amps

Another strange thing is why would they put RCA connections on the amp if they are aiming for the "Pro" market? Its a good thing Lightning had those 1/4" to RCA adaptors in his gig bag. And why would they abandon the "Pro Audio" market for the guitar market? It all sounds very confusing. I also...

    Dual Concentric Wedges, Wow

Is the ART SLA 2 also good enough or should i only use that particular d&b power amps with d&b speakers? d&b loudspeakers with the exception of max and max12 are designed to be driven by d&b D6 or D12 amps because thats where all the EQ and limiting is ..and its sercet. The speakers would...

    Dual Concentric Wedges, Wow

This comes back to my point of building a similar style wedge, using the B&C speaker. Will it sound as nice as the D&B setup? I doubt it, but I am sure it will still sound very very good. D&B do all of the processing (limiters...) in their power amp. And everything is setup perfectly in their...

I had the fortunate experience of playing through some D&B M4 wedges tonight and all I can say is wow. They have dual concentric 15s and I no longer have doubts about FRFR. They were powered by the D12 amplifier and although this stuff is ridiculously expensive, I know the way forward for...

These kind of comments usually come from someone that has ever owned or used a mac. There are no viruses for the mac because Unix is "virtually" unhackable. Also regarding midi.
