FW11 IIC+ vs Mark V-IIC+ - Not getting good results (Solved)

Are you sure the slave out is a true representation of the amp?
  10. Richard_G

    How hard do you try???

I have no problem with asking for help. But I want to understand what the changes are and how the result is obtained. I don't like "quick fixes" I don't understand. I guess that's one of the reasons I like to make my own presets instead of relying on factory presets or presets from other users.

any thoughts on when the Axe-FX III might be released?

The short story: We do not know. The slightly longer story: We do not know. But here's my experience from the II release: Shortly after the II was announced, I decided to sell my Ultra and get on the II waiting list. I'm not doing that again. Don't get me wrong, I love everything about my II...

Atomic CLR = Sonic bliss !!! In depth review

I want the most accurate, neutral, full-range, flat-response speaker I can possibly afford. So far, the CLR is my choice. And I f**king love it!
  20. Richard_G

    Which is the Real Amp?

I agree, but as long as I know what the "streamlined approach" is doing, flicking through a few of them can be nice to find good starting points.
  21. Richard_G

Logic Pro X released today. I knew it was coming.

    Let's see your favourite guitar!

My #1 is this Gibson Les Paul R8: Closely followed by this PRS McCarty (with rosewood neck and P90s): Love 'em both to death!
  25. Richard_G

So you're only allowed one amp sim!!

I know it's the wrong answer, but I can't choose. It depends on my mood and the setting... but I keep coming back to the HB/HBE.

What is your Power amp of choice for use with the Axe FX II?

The amp in my active Atomic CLR wedge if I go the FRFR route, or the Matrix GT1000FX if I use a cab.

Who else is in debt from their Axe FX II purchase?!?!

Buying the Ultra used back in the day was an impulse buy for me, but the cash was available. Impresses as I was, I ordered the II shortly after it was announced (and stupid as I was, I sold my Ultra and was Axe-Less for a while, waiting for my II. Living in Europe didn't help.). But IMHO, no...

Sell me on a PRS custom 24

PRS Custom 24s are great guitars - And consistently so. If I had to choose between a random Les Paul and a random CU24, I'd probably choose the CU24. But then again, it would take a seriously well made CU24 to knock my R8 off the throne as my #1 axe.

For bedroom player, CLR Wedge or Cab?

I am struggling to put this in a polite manner, but your monitoring solution is not where you should cut cost.
  46. Richard_G

Working with Stephen C from The Deftones this week, check out our progress!

Ah... this thread made me nostalgic. I'm sitting here listening to the Adrenalin album. "Nothing" to gain from a sonic perspective., but lot's to gain from an emotional perspective, as I have certain memories from when the album was released.
  47. Richard_G

Let me see if I got this right...

As I said in my post (in Norwegian), I didn't meant to be rude in my post. But it was difficult from the OP to get a grip on what could be the issue (i.e. a "newbie" doing a "rookie mistake" or an experienced user having to do minor adjustments). Nevertheless, a still valid question is what...

For bedroom player, CLR Wedge or Cab?

Let me put it this way: I live in an apartment and have to be "reasonable" with my neighbors. But I want to be able to enjoy my guitars and the Axe-FX II whenever I want to. Thus, at home I use a headset at night (AKG K702), studio monitors when I have to keep it down (a pair of Neumann KH120...

Let me see if I got this right...

It's difficult to help you without more information. But anyways: Try making your own preset from scratch, making sure your are following the FAS guidelines about input gain, gain staging etc. And if your pickups are hot, turn down the gain and/or the input trim in the amp block. And for...

  54. Richard_G

For bedroom player, CLR Wedge or Cab?

In my opinion, there's nothing in the cab version that the wedge doesn't have. Actually, it's the other way around, in that the wedge can easily function as a cab (it is designed to be able to this), while the cab can not function as a wedge (At least not as easily. But I guess you could tilt it...

OT - Who plays a Les Paul, and what do you use it for?

G.A.S. Flairing up. PRS or JTV

I consider myself to be a Les Paul guy. But I have a PRS McCarty with P90's and a rosewood neck that is just a fantastic guitar. If you come across one of these, you owe it to yourself to check it out. I also have a PRS Singlecut, but I prefer my R8.

Matrix GT1000/Q12 vs Atomic CLR Active Cab Comparison

    I use Neumann KH120.
  74. Richard_G

To Reverb or Not to Reverb...

As others have mentioned, I'd say that it depends on what you're trying to achieve: I might put some low level reverb on a heavy preset when recording direct to create some illusion of natural space, but most likely not (or at least less) on a heavy preset for live use. On the other hand, I'd...

  76. Richard_G

    My own personal epiphany.

You may already know this, but anyway: Be aware that turning the sag knob is not a way to "gradually turn on the power amp simulation", but turning the sag all the way down is a special setting where the power amp simulation is turned off.

    MFC and Kicktag labels.

    Nice!
  80. Richard_G

What don't you miss from your old amps before you picked up an Axe?

The volume needed. Buying new tubes. Looking for the faulty patch cable on my pedal board. Wondering whether that other amp would be a better choice for what I wanted to achieve at the time.
  81. Richard_G

Did you keep any amps, and do you play them?

I decided to keep just one: my Bogner Shiva 20th. I love that amp! It does not get much use, but I like to use it every now and then. If I was forced to sell some gear, the amp would be gone long before my Axe-FX II.
  82. Richard_G

Active CLR or Passive with Matrix, your thoughts?

I have a GT1000FX, but I'm on the list for an active CLR. I'll use my GT1000FX if I want to check out passive FRFR solutions or if I want to hook up a traditional guitar cab.
  83. Richard_G

Atomic Amps - "Coincident Linear Reference" Designed by Jay Mitchell

I'm not going to put my rack on top of the CLR, so it does not bother me. (I'm getting the wedge so that statement is pretty obvious, but I probably wouldn't be putting my rack on top of the cab version either). I like that the CLR is small.
  87. Richard_G

    Slowing down with age.

Maybe it's just me, but I never understood how obsessed some people are about speed. Like speed is a ultimate criterion for judging how good a guitarist you are. There's just so much more to this instrument.
