The gmajor encoders are a very easy fix, just spray some deoxit and they work like brand new I've never had issues with the ultra/II encoders but if I did I'd probably try the same (or any plastic safe contact cleaner) do at your own risk!

AXE 2 vs Kemper good balanced review

The funny thing about the looks is every chick thats seen my kemper loves it and asks what it is maybe its something they can relate to with all the buttons like below :D (when in reality it is much more like the 'man' in simplicity of use lol )
  3. A

AXE 2 vs Kemper good balanced review

I was refering to the roll down the volume knob comment the reviewer made. I've seen the reviews (or comments) you and clark have made in the past and do agree with what you say about the lower end and the overall dynamics (this is easy to see on a wave form/ozone) a couple of comments about...

AXE 2 vs Kemper good balanced review

yeah i totally disagree with the reviewer there as well I wonder if the reviewer scored the kemper higher if it would have been balanced ;) I'm just glad I was open minded enough to buy one and absolutely zero regrets.... I've spent much more time playing guitar than tweaking patches after...

I love my AxeFx2, should I buy a Kemper as well?

    Better for me yes
  7. A

AXE 2 vs Kemper good balanced review

couple of very inaccurate things in that review 1.when he compares the tone match to profiling he completely ignores the fact that to get best results you already have to make a patch close to the desired sound which isn't the case with the kemper 2.the kemper does a fine job of profiling the...

METALLICA Chooses Fractal Audio Axe-Fx IIs for Silent Antarctica Concert

How to tell what FW version a preset was created on?

thanks guys , yeah there seems to be a certain pain threshold that you have to get thru sometimes here to get an answer lol would be great if there was a way to find out
  13. A

How to tell what FW version a preset was created on?

then why bother about having the FW info on axe-change etc? Its because a patch that was done on FW1 will 99% sound radically different if its on FW12. Obviously you can adjust levels to stop clipping etc but it would be nice to know anyhow I'm going around in circles here lol I just wanted to...
  14. A

How to tell what FW version a preset was created on?

wow I didn't think it was going to be this hard to get an answer or turn into something else :/ When you upload to axe-change is it the user that puts in the FW or does it automatically detect it?
  15. A

How to tell what FW version a preset was created on?

so using that logic if you don't have the same guitar its worthless using another persons preset? lol If thats the case what is the point of even exchanging presets then? I'm asking because some earlier presets when loaded up with later FW clip like crazy or presets made on newer FW won't load...

First impressions of the Axe II and NEED HELP QUICK !!!!

Ok I didn't know that. Because in the past I thought it was a highly recomended pairing. Saying that I hope to pick up a CLR in the future.
  21. A

First impressions of the Axe II and NEED HELP QUICK !!!!

Why the hate for the reactors since the CLR came out? Before people were hyping these things like crazy. (Gear page thread mainly with the bashing) CK you are a bit different than most users because it seems like a very large portion of your patches all have some custom or third party IR

  23. A

First impressions of the Axe II and NEED HELP QUICK !!!!

It's strange I could swear since mimic some have said its as easy as selecting an amp and a cab and dial it in its just like a real amp .......and now its extremely complex gear that takes time Which is it? Ill try to add helpful info to OP when I get some time

    Downgrading to FW9

If it wasn't to improve the product then there wouldn't be a bugs section. And many of the posts made in other sections have lead to improvements (Including the Lenny thread). Downgrading to FW9

We also have 204 likes as of right now, is that 204 people that prefer 9? Or is some a mix of a possible solution provided with FW12? Just remember some of the people that prefer 9 might have noticed some issues in the past that the "each FW is better than the last" crowd missed ;)
  26. A

    Downgrading to FW9

I agree and what's to say the change won't be something that just could be done with just turning an eq knob or close enough. Look alone at the power of tone matching/match eq. You can get near identical tones with just an eq curve alone. That's what makes me laugh when I see 'guides'...
  27. A

    Downgrading to FW9

RECTO!!!! Never liked the recto as much as the ultra (any how found the II was actually the triple until the new one got added) havent tried it yet but the ultra recto had some serious special sauce
  28. A

    Downgrading to FW9

I read where users could send cliff an amp and he might possibly model it.... If someone sent in an ultra would he model a couple of amp models on that ;) jk I got some favourites!
  29. A

    Downgrading to FW9

Same thing goes for the crowd that every single FW is better yet sometimes there are issues that happen (and get fixed) yet these seem to never get picked up by that crowd. Some of the user base have used the fractal gear from the ultra right thru all or most of the II FW's While some...

    Downgrading to FW9

I can't think of any amp I've played and not being able to dial in a decent tone with just the basic eq controls , I don't understand why multiple ir mixes and all sorts of complex parameters need to be messed with If you go that far the tone better sound stellar lol or maybe its time to...
  31. A

    Downgrading to FW9

Didn't you have to get one of your favourite amps remimiced on a later FW? (Including quite a few other amps unrelated) I guess I'm one of the crazy ones that preferred and stuck with 9 also. I don't use multiple IR mixes and advanced parameters so that's probably why I struggled so much

    Quick Kemper vs AxeFxII shootout

OP should do a profile of the axe-fx patch and a tone match of the kemper profile and put them up and then see who can tell the difference LOL
  33. A

    Quick Kemper vs AxeFxII shootout

I prefered the axe clip , but personally for my own stuff I'm much happier with the kemper amp modelling. I've kinda learned not to trust swedish chefs ears after the recto thread....

On the fence between Axe FX II and Kemper Profiling Amp

I picked up a kemper recently and was blown away. It's actually become my main recording rig. Unfortunately I won't be near a pc to give a detailed reply for a few days , but OP should try them both. The axe-fx is the clear winner if you have to do some crazy effects/synth/ambient type stuff...

MIND.BLOWN that was incredible! couldn't thank you enough if you do share the patches in the future thats the way to do it ....IMO tone matching always seems to add in some extra stuff and while it might sound good thru monitors jamming, if you use it thru a FRFR loud its not even close to...

ver 11b - 'Tallica Tone Matches

sounds good! have you got ozone or any frequency programs? Michael Dolce Cant load V8.01 patches into V10.9 help

I take it this is the first time you have done a FW update? 90% of the time you will have to re do the patches to make them sound the same (if it is a jump from a 8 to a 9 ....not so much 9 to 9.02 etc) big changes going up to 10 and still changes with 11 I kinda lol'ed at the thread title also

Anyone A/B'd Axe FX II FW 10/11 to the original Axe Standard FW1?

I *was* and still might do it for the recto models. That amp model has had many changes so it might actually be a bad one to do it with. You get about 3 opinions on average 1.Think every single FW sounds so much better than the last. 2.Think every single FW sounds so much better than the...

FW10 has really F-d UP my Mesa Patches :( ... lot's of work or back to V6???

The recto has been probably the most reworked amp since even the ultra days. (When IMO it was its best on FW11 lol) If its one of your main go to amps, well I share your pain. Played my Axe-Fx II for the first time today...feel a bit let down

for what reason would someone not be able to get a good sound out of the BX5's?!?! and to the OP not sure what FW you are using but if its 10 IMO I couldn't get anything to have much clarity without some serious high end tweaks or other IR's , 9.02 works much better for me with the high gain stuff
