whats the best expression pedals ?

I'll be an outlier and say that I really like the Ernie Ball Jr. pedals. I found I had to tweak the curve on the AxeFX, but I really like the construction of these pedals, the fact that they can nest close enough to each other to operate two with one foot and the range of motion on the rocker.

I use a couple of Ernie Ball Jrs. They're built like tanks and have a nice smooth action but, as others have said, the taper isn't correct for use as an expression pedal. I changed a couple of parameters on the modifiers my pedals are assigned to and to my ear they behave exactly right. The...

Anyone take off the front stands/legs of the MFC for better foot tilt?

I removed the feet from mine when I mounted it on a pedalboard. The board has a fair amount of tilt on its own, so the angle of the MFC's control surface is even steeper. I have to lift my foot higher, but I don't find it a bother and I seem less apt to step on a nearer switch when clicking...

I run two 1 x12 8 ohm cabs. The DCM2000L is overkill, but I do like to have enough headroom that the amp is nowhere close to non-linear. It may be that the input power requirements for that amp would be a reason to choose something less powerful.

Rex, with the patch in question, I don't think he's going to find an offending device. The gain on that patch is incredibly high and he's probably picking up 60 cycle RF from his home wiring. My guitar and cable are very well shielded and the patch did the same thing his audio clip displayed...

    Strange Noise on Palm Mutes

Dave, that patch does the same thing for me. The culprit is the extremely high gain coming from amp 1 (Das Metal). While there is no compressor in the chain, the amp is so dimed it's behaving like one. The noise you're hearing is ambient RF, most likely from your electrical, that is being...

    Strange Noise on Palm Mutes

Is there a compressor in the patch you used in the audio clip? What it sounds like to me is a compressor is raising the gain as the guitar signal fades out and results in increasingly poor signal to noise. The buzz itself sounds like 60 cycle hum through a single coil pickup.

That sounds low for those settings, but knowing more about the amp patch you're using would help, as would knowing about the rest of the virtual signal chain in the patch, as other effects could attenuate the signal along the way. Would it be problematic to use an external switch plugged into the MFC to accomplish this? Perhaps you're trying to avoid having other pedals on the ground, which I'd understand. Still, when I receive my MFC, I plan to use at least one expression pedal with it, so adding an external IA...
