    FM3 Firmware Version 8.00 beta 1

I haven't tried in Axe Edit, just the front panel. I kind of prefer the behavior on the Axe Fx because IMO those values are a better sounding starting point with a lot of mics/cabs than Cap / 0 cm. But I don't know which is "correct".

    FM3 Firmware Version 8.00 beta 1

Not a bug per se, but an inconsistency between the FM3 and the Axe Fx. After resetting the cab block, the default DynaCab mic position and distance are 0.0 on the FM3, but on the Axe Fx they default to 5.00 and 4.80 respectively. Not sure what the FM9 does, I don't have mine handy right now.

    Axe-Fx III Firmware 25.00 Release

Yeah, I just checked the Recto Slant using Axe Edit and it seems to be working. There is an audible difference when toggling between Dynamic 1 and 2.

    Axe-Fx III Firmware 25.00 Release

I checked several cabs and I definitely hear a difference between Dynamic 1 and 2. DynaCabs are updated independently of the DSP firmware, so it's probably unlikely that this update broke them. Were you on a clean or dirty preset when you tried this? The difference between the mics would be...

For me it's the Wrecker Express and Liverpool. I dial the amps in for a lead tone and then roll my guitar volume down to 1/2 or 3/4 for clean and crunch.

    Axe-Fx III Firmware 24.03 Release

York Audio has a Marshall V30 pack that sounds great. FWIW, I don’t think the matching cab thing is that big of a deal. I played my Jubilees through a stock cab that I assume had T75s and another with Greenbacks and they sounded fine. Since the B/M/T controls actually do something on the...

Fryette D60 More not enough gain?

I had a Pittbull a while back. It was a really cool, but very unforgiving amp. It had tons of gain, but somehow seemed to have very little compression or saturation. I don’t know how to describe it other than dry and stiff. I guess it’s the signature Fryette sound because the D60 I tried was...

How to make lower gain Plexi pre set sound full?

Lower the value of the bright cap. Or raise the treble gain and lower the input trim to compensate. The bright cap has less effect the higher your treble gain is set.

    Axe-Fx III Firmware 23.02 Release

I just experienced an odd bug. I was playing with the Double Verb factory preset. I was on the “Normal” scene and the only change I made was bypassing the delay and reverb blocks. Bug FM9 Turbo?

The bypass mode of your chorus block is "Mute FX Out" and the mix is 100%, so when it's bypassed no dry signal is passing. Changing it to "Thru" fixes the issue. A good way to diagnose problems like this is to use the Meters view under Layout.

Real vintage sounding les paul through FM3

I did say the wiring harness part was a preference, not required. But it is definitely part of the vintage LP tone and vibe. Some people who use their volume knobs to go from clean to dirty prefer an abrupt instead of gradual taper. The taper of the volume pots on my reissue LPs, for example...

Real vintage sounding les paul through FM3

I think the biggest factors are going to be the pickups and maybe the wiring harness. If you want vintage LP tones, go for a set of bright, low output, PAF style pickups like Duncan Seth Lovers or Antiquities, Dimarzio PAF Masters or 36th Anniversaries etc. The stock wiring harness in your...

FM9 not recognizing new Volume Pedal?

I don’t have any experience with the DVP5X, but the 4 has two internal switches. Assuming the 5 is similar, you may need to crack it open and take a look at the manual to make sure they’re set correctly.

    FM9 Edit Dyna-Cab UI Glitch

I'm seeing this too with 1.02.04 on a Mac. The position knob for cab 1 jumps around erratically when dragging the mic. When moving the cab 2 mic there's also some weird interaction going on with the cab 1 position where it randomly jumps to "Cap" and then back to the actual value.

I haven't played through it yet, but looking at your preset I would guess that you're hearing ghost notes. The AC30 models have pretty prominent ghost notes if you run them with much gain or hit them with a boost. If you don't like them you could follow Cliff's instructions on how to get rid...

    Input Clipping Thread

So, I normally use a wireless going into the rear input. Which model for a late 70s JMP master volume style?

Plexi 2204 should be the closest to a JMP. But since there were circuit changes and component value inconsistencies from amp to amp, it may not sound like exactly like you’re expecting. If it sounds too dark, bump the bright cap value up. IIRC the 2204 has less gain than the 800, maybe the...

    Pitch - Virtual Capo Sound

If I were playing everything tuned down a half-step I would definitely go with tuning the guitars down instead of using the virtual capo. Moving up to a heavier gauge set of strings could help keep the tension close to what you're used to in standard tuning.

Er......Is the Axe lll now €3,499.00 in Europe?

It was just meant to be a ballpark breakdown of the price difference, I didn't think about accounting for customs fees. My point was that I don't think Fractal or their distributors are in any way trying to gouge overseas customers.
  54. M

Er......Is the Axe lll now €3,499.00 in Europe?

Yeah, if you take the base price of the Turbo ($2,499), add the 3 year warranty ($229), account for the exchange rate and VAT (I assumed 20%) it looks like it comes up to just under €3,400. In the US a Turbo with the extended warranty would be around $2,900 including sales tax (about 6% or 7%...

    FM9 Scene switching lag time

LOL, I'm not saying modelers should be constrained by the limitations of the devices they're emulating. Just that very short gaps when switching channels wasn't a big deal before modelers and still isn't today for the majority of guitarists. Maybe it's genre dependent, but I've never needed...

    FM9 Scene switching lag time

I'm still not seeing how this offers much of an advantage over scenes. On the Axe and FM9 you could have two amp blocks with 8 completely different amp models and have (mostly) gapless scene switching. That's assuming you planned your scene changes to alternate between the two amp blocks...

    FM9 Scene switching lag time

I sold my HX Stomp a while back and have only briefly tinkered with a Helix Floor. But isn't one notable difference here that you can't change to a different amp model (or effect type) via snapshots, you can only change parameters of the currently selected model? Whereas with Fractal's...

    Treble bleed mod

Which amp models do you primarily use? If your goal is to be able to roll your volume down without your tone getting muddy, some amps do that better than others. The Trainwreck and Plexi models excel at that. I personally hate treble bleeds, but I know they work for some people.

Analog Drive Pedals in front of Axe III to get better FEEL, who else is doing this?

Have you tried playing with the input impedance setting in the Input 1 block? That makes a huge difference as far as replicating the cleanup characteristics of a fuzz. Of course, if you're using a wireless or any pedals in front of the Axe/FM9 it may not make much of a difference.

Brit Silver - Is the mid knob behaving correctly?

The tone stack of the Jubilee is different from the typical Marshall and the B/M/T controls are all much more effective. You can definitely get some weird sounds out of the real thing with extreme settings, more so than you could with a plexi or 2203.

    Easy to clip Out2?

Sorry. I gave up on using mine in 4CM partly because I was frustrated that I couldn't find a way to slam the front end of my amp with a drive block without clipping OUT2. It ended up being irrelevant for me though, I’m happier playing through FRFR speakers now and I rarely even fire up my real amps.
  82. M

    Easy to clip Out2?

I haven't ran mine in 4CM in a while, but I did run into that when trying to hit the front of my amp with a boost in the FM3. Something like a tube screamer with the level cranked and the gain low would light up the OUT2 clip indicator.

FM3 into power amp (currently tube power amp) - Speaker Imp Curve, LB-2-US/UK?

I'm not sure there's an "optimal" setting, it just depends on what kind of amp you're running it into and what sounds good to you. Going into the return of an amp you'd probably want to set it to resistive or at least lower the hi/low resonances on the speaker tab. For a fairly neutral power...
