FS Axe FX III Mk II Turbo Local Sale Southeastern New England - SOLD

I would be willing to ship if PayPal wasn't such a shit show for sellers. I sold my original MK 1 Axe FX III some time ago and about 5 months after I received a charge back and refund request because it wasn't as advertised. I was pretty shocked as I don't know of any store that has a 5 month...

New Pickups vs Just Using EQ

As far as the EQ goes I’m not looking so much to add anything frequency wise as they don’t sound bad. They just have a decent amount of lower end that needs to be dialed out to tighten everything up.

New Pickups vs Just Using EQ

It’s an old LTD horizon. I think it is either from 1996 or 1997. I bought it new in 1997 if I remember correctly.

New Pickups vs Just Using EQ

I was thinking about putting new pickups in my oldest guitar that was the first one I bought when I was a kid many many many years ago. I've been looking at maybe the Hetfield EMGs or the Fishman KSE ones. The guitar currently has some generic humbuckers in it that are passive and sound decent...

Why Is It Always The Axe FX Getting Destroyed?

Maybe since he is up in Canada this is outlet due to a lack of liberty and free speech hahaha!!! But yes, he is just looking for clicks at this point and not actually trying to help anybody out. It's almost a joke. He does have some decent videos but his job is doing youtube videos, not...

Why Is It Always The Axe FX Getting Destroyed?

I like some of his content because at times it can be entertaining. It's kind of funny when he complained all the times about drum sample sets and then released his own. I'm not sure if anybody actually bought it or uses it when there is stuff from Toontrack out there that is miles ahead in...

Why Is It Always The Axe FX Getting Destroyed?

After this showed up on my feed since I follow SMG I notice he likes to pick on the Axe FX but it could be said for any piece of gear. As in, all the amps he has sitting in the back ground are now "destroyed" by whatever new stuff comes along. I'm sure the argument would be that amps will still...

    ToneX is blowing my mind…!

Yes it is. You just have to route properly to capture the test signal TONEX sends to capture.
  12. M

    ToneX is blowing my mind…!

I just did a capture of my 5150 block letter patch which has the Maxon 808 boost in front of it. It didn't come out so good. The over all distortion got dialed back somehow. When I did the Das Metall capture there was no boost in front and it came out well. I'm wondering if Tonex didn't know how...
  13. M

    ToneX is blowing my mind…!

Also just wanted to add after playing the capture back and forth against the model in the Axe that it is similar but slightly different. I'm assuming that is the same case with the actual amp captures as well. This is what I would classify as pretty much the same and close enough.
  14. M

    ToneX is blowing my mind…!

I did a capture of my Das Metall preset and it came out pretty good. I'm MetalMMX on tone net. Or in the app just search Das Metall. It's funny that I used effectively a modeler to capture a modeler.
  15. M

    ToneX is blowing my mind…!

There was a thread some years back with Cliff explained something about a lot of these amps having similarities. As in, you don't need to model a bunch of amps that effectively are the same thing. I think that is what happens with the capture phenomena though. You have a ton of different amps...
  16. M

    ToneX is blowing my mind…!

Played around some more today with this. One thing I notice is that if you remove the cab and use your own impulses from the captures with the cab as part of the capture then it doesn't sound very good. The direct captures that are just the amp work great with my own impulses though. They...

QC, ToneX and the future of Fractal

I think Fractal is good where they are at and don't need to follow the rest of the crowd so much. I noticed within ToneX when I was messing with it the 5150 block letter model I found was actually a capture the person did with a Axe FX III version of the amp. Then I found the Driftwood Purple...

    ToneX is blowing my mind…!

Messed around some more. Brought Tonex in Amplitube so I could use my own IR files with some of the direct captures. For some reason captures I downloaded with Tonex work in Tonex but not in Amplitube's Tonex. Odd.
  19. M

    ToneX is blowing my mind…!

I'm talking about the right hand side with the collections. I did know about the filtering for the menu under the amp picture. Also when you browsing Tone Net by scrolling down it keeps popping up the loading message which is odd behavior. They should have made a decent browser within the app...

    ToneX is blowing my mind…!

I picked up Tonex SE to give it a run since after Jam Points it was only $35. Sounds pretty good. Some of the user made captures are excellent. The interface is horrible though. As in, a total dumpster fire of a UI. I'm not sure what they were thinking on that part. The browser is sort of...

Axe fx 3 with VOCALS, preamp needed?

I use a Great River ME-1NV into the Axe FX III with good results. The single channel version has a rack mount kit you can get. You could probably go with something less expensive for live use though and there are plenty of options out there. I bought the Great River for recording purposes.

Input A/D Percentage For Mic Pre Amp On Input 2?

So I know to set the A/D percentage in the set up for a guitar to be the point where it tickles the red when playing your hardest but I'm not sure where it should be set for my Great River mic preamp. The Great River has mic gain and then a controllable output level. It appears I can set the A/D...

Considering an Axe, have a few questions.

I haven't had latency issues and I use it as my recording sound card. If you need to use it in a low latency application make sure you disable the safety buffer which I believe adds some samples to the output. I mean, at 64 samples it shouldn't really matter though. I think if you try to play...

Observations Between Ownhammer and ML Sound Lab IRs

I track my guitars wet now since the sound and effects change the way I play. I don't capture the DI so I don't use plugins for amp or cab sims. I guess you could blend and IR and then send it to the Axe to play. Not sure if that cab sim allows that or now. After a couple weeks now though of...

I blended some of the greatest hits IRs together and found some really good combinations in the end. Blending the Zilla 2x12 with the Mesa Djent and Mesa Trad works well. I've been using mainly Ownhammer for IRs over the years and have a bunch of different packs. I started trying out some of the ML Sound Lab IRs that came built into the Axe FX III. Since updating to FW12 Axe Edit seems to be behaving oddly. For instance, say I open one of my presets for a 5150, it might not actually show the 5150 in the editor but it might show the amp from the last preset. All the presets are actually fine in the Axe though it is just how Axe Edit is...

Best Way To Set Up Separate Analog DI Out

Does this bypass the A/D D/A conversion process if doing that? Also, I have balanced inputs on my UFX+ and was thinking of using the output 2 channel since it is balanced but noticed there is no option to copy input 1 to that output unless I'm missing something.

Best Way To Set Up Separate Analog DI Out

Axe-Fx III USB "Wet" Recording Volume Low

Axe-Fx III USB "Wet" Recording Volume Low

When looking at the Axe FX III's output meter it looks like I'm around -6db peaking. When I record the USB output which would be what I hear form output 1/2 it registers around -18db in Cubase. New guitar - Gretsch Electromatic Pro Jet with Fryette, Friedman, Vox, ML USA Djent & Zilla cabs

The 90's is probably the last decade where you couldn't fake it. As in, you didn't really have computers to do your work for you with all the drum programs, guitar sims, vocal tuning, etc... Musicians really had to be on point with their live and recorded performances. I grew up as a teen...

Original Indie Rock (similar to Arctic Monkeys) - AxeFX II and FAS reverb

I'm not much of an "indie music" guy but I can dig it. When people say indie music sometimes it sounds like hard rock from the 90's which this could fit in to. Not a bad thing. It's like when folks called hard rock bands grunge in the 90's. Either way, sounds good and it has a good vibe to it...

Heavy Song is Heavy (Instrumental Nonsense)

Great guitar work on this. I'm assuming the drums are programmed. You just have to find a drummer with great timing and excellent footwork if you take it live. Regarding the snare, I have heard this same style of snare on other djent style tunes so it is most likely fitting even though it...

AXE FX II Models VS Amplitube Officially Licensed Models

I don't think it is just the IR that makes it sound boxy, there are other things at play here. When I did the same test with BIAS using the same cab as the AXE, BIAS had a boxy tone to it too. Glad you liked the riffage on the Mesa.
  74. M

AXE FX II Models VS Amplitube Officially Licensed Models

I did that with BIAS and the AXE FX and the Axe sounded better to me due to BIAS having a boxy sounds I couldn't dial out. Which is what happened with Amplitube also. Amplitube is an odd ball that seems to work better with it's built in cabs then other IR files, at least in my findings.
  75. M

AXE FX II Models VS Amplitube Officially Licensed Models

It's odd but when I did a shoot out before with a couple of amp modelers using the same CAB IRs, Amplitube didn't take to well to the IRs. Not sure why but Amplitube actually sounded better through it's own cabs. Makes no sense right. But yes, boxy.

AXE FX II VS BIAS Desktop (High Gain and Ambient Clean)

One thing I notice is that the AXE FX II does not require you to place an overdrive pedal before the high gain amps to actually get a good high gain tone. A lot of the other modelers do require that. For the couple high gain amps I've owned I did not need an overdrive pedal to achieve a nice...

Heavy Metal Tune with newly acquired AXE FX II XL+ (music video)

I've owned an AXE FX II before and started missing it so I picked up another. For the heavy guitars I used layered tracks of the 5153 100w Red and Recto2 Red. The clean is the AC30 model. The bass is the SV bass. I used Ownhammer cabs to match the amps. And, I had a good time doing it all.
