Taking my guitar onboard the airplane.

Hi, How do people carry their guitars when they fly across the atlantic? I have a soft and hard case. I don't want to check in the guitar with the hard case and I am afraid they won't let me take it onboard with the softcase. What are your experiences?

No luck with SEX
