    Axe Fx for my mac

I sold off all my guitar recording gear a while back and went over to electronic music (got a wicked modular synth built and am having the time of my life). BUT - through circumstances that cropped up I had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to have a custom Mayones made to my desired...

FX8 and Fryette Power Station Problems and Conversation with Steven Fryette

Hey Guys, So I talked with Fryette yesterday (I'm pretty sure it was Steven Fryette himself) as I've run into an issue with using my FX8 and Fryette Power Station together. As a result, Steven said they will be buying an FX8 from a local dealer who has an FX8 on hand and will be testing it to...

Hey folks. I've ignored a few members on this post now,and I won't be back here to answer questions or try to sort out some people's problems as it's a waste of my productive time. Suffice to say, I'll pretty much be regulating my posts to anything regarding the FX8 as it's the only piece of...

As I recall, this is still a forum about discussing various aspects of the Axe-fx II. Still, you persist to stay in a thread you don't like. There's therapy for this type of stuff, you know.

    It's been an interesting run

Well, as the post and subsequent thread is approaching 9,000 views it must hold some sort of interest for people who frequent the forum. I think it's considerably more bizarre that dudes who apparently don't like or don't see the point of it keep popping back in here to say so, which only serves...

I've been around, as I still have an FX8. That thing is pretty friggin' sweet. Still have to order some humbuster cables so I can set it up "right" but even just using regular TS cables gets pretty good results. Very quiet and transparent! And flexible to boot! I want to point out that at no...

You misunderstand. While admittedly I care nothing for your music, IRs, production, etc., that was not what I meant. Your unsolicited opinion is what is not needed or wanted from me. And yet, your knee-jerk narcissistic response was basically "it's perfect for me so you don't know what you're...

Amps are incredibly loud. LOL. Yes, I can mic my cab, but my music space operates mostly as a mixing area. I don't have a separate treated room to put a cab in, and my dog would hate me for it anyway. Also, with the great impulse responses available in this day and age (long gone are the...

Keep in mind "the search" is a very complex process, especially when it comes to amps. I had a Single Rectifier Solo come up for a KILLER deal about a week before I found the 5150. I'm failry utilitarian when it comes to music with guitar, but I have a specific notion of what I'm after. Everybody said "Why do you tune down to a flat isn't b enough?" And I'm like "it's in my vocal range". When I took all the tone pots out of my guitars people were like "Why would you do...

It gets close but it's not on the money. And it's not like my tones were despicable or anything. I got lots of compliments actually. But I found myself ultimately being distracted by elements of the way it responded and sounded and it bothered me to a big fault. I don't mind the limitations...

Well folks. Today I said goodbye to my Axe-fx 2. I have had the thing size roughly fw 2, have seen the system grow and change, and have learned a great deal along the way. I think the Axe-fx has taught me more about tube amps than I ever could have jammed playing through tube amps alone, and...

EVH 5150 iii 50w, MIDI channel changing, and Axe Scenes

I wanted to give an update on this thread. I figured out what I'm going to have to do to make this work. The 5150 is automatically set up to accept MIDI messages on channel 01. EVH 5150 iii 50w, MIDI channel changing, and Axe Scenes

EVH 5150 iii 50w, MIDI channel changing, and Axe Scenes

Yeah I have setup scenes on my rig. It was a bit crazy at first but once I got the hang of it it all made sense. The gcp works with amp switching in the same way I've set it up for scenes. There's also ways an amp and can interact that haven't been measured yet. There are interactions going on that we probably don't even know exist yet. Has the Axe-FX II Achieved 99% amp modeling accuracy?

So what you're actually saying is that the convenience of the Axe-fx II outweighs your abilities to mic a cab and have access to lots of tones. 27. Speculum Speculorum

Has the Axe-FX II Achieved 99% amp modeling accuracy?

You're right to be skeptical. There's an inherent "smoothing" effect when listening to an amp through an IR as it just doesn't capture the speaker movement as accurately as a live mic'ed tone. But I've also heard stunning examples of tube amps through IRs and frankly, it sounds amazing by...
  28. Speculum Speculorum

Has the Axe-FX II Achieved 99% amp modeling accuracy?

It depends on what you're playing. This thing is pretty astounding for clean tones, but once you start getting into breakup and high gain territory there's still room for improvement. This is just opinion of course. It's much debated, but the high and low end on distorted tone still suffers, in...

    Question for the Strymon Guys

    Question for the Strymon Guys

The thing about Strymon-type pedals is that there's usually more going on under the hood than just a delay or just a reverb. Right. So here's the deal. Even with plenty of volume a FRFR system is not going to behave exactly like a power amp and real guitar cab. Matrix gt1000fx bridged mono into 400 watt bass cab?

I gotcha. I should probably note I play pretty heavy music - not metal but very heavy rock. I was thinking of getting a Gallien-Krueger 410sbx because it's cheap as Hell - like $250. My buddy in a doom metal group says it's not loud enough for his applications though. Then again ... It's doom...

Matrix gt1000fx bridged mono into 400 watt bass cab?

So if I'm reading it right, it's fifine to do it, but the question becomes whether or not it will be loud enough at the flickering point to provide stage volume. I know a couple guys have talked about running bass rigs with the matrix. I think maybe @jimfist talked about it at some point...

Matrix gt1000fx bridged mono into 400 watt bass cab?

See, this is where I get confused. People run 212 cabs with Vintage 30s in stereo mode all the time. That's a cab rated at 120 watts being run at 300 watts. The explanation I have seen is that the power of a solid state amp is not like the power of a tube amp. So basically, the ss is equivalent...

Matrix gt1000fx bridged mono into 400 watt bass cab?

Hey folks, So I've got the Matrix coming in this Friday, and I've got a pretty good price on a 400 watt 8 ohm cab. I'm thinking in this case I would run the Matrix in bridged mono. Or would that be too much power? Or still too little?

Reamping Kemper using the Axe Fx II within Cubase 7

What about running the kemper in the effects loop of the axe? I have no idea if it would work because I have no idea what the connections with the kemper are like.

    Crunch parameter

I know it has to do with preamp breakup. Just crank it up and it becomes very audibly apparent what it's doing. I do like a bit of it here ava there. Combined with speaker drive and motor drive it add a bitof that oomph I like to hear in high gain stuff.

    Is Axe Fx Viable?

I think it's generally weird that ANYBODY cares so much about the opinions of other people when it comes to gear. Are we that lacking in confidence that as adults, we act like somebody else's opinion of what kit we use will somehow affect us through spooky action at a distance? Unfortunately, I...

    Is Axe Fx Viable?

Love me some tube amps. Love me some Axe-fx II. I will argue that while the axe has always sounded great, for me it has been in the last three fw (with heavy emphasis on the last one) where the "feel" through a cab IR got to where I'm really happy, and the breakup finally felt identical to the...

Axe-Fx II "Quantum" Rev 2.02 Firmware Release

Yeah like I said I want wasn't trying to nitpick. The verbiage just confused me a bit. I'm a huge fan of the current modeling. I had a crisis of faith a little while back and kind of lashed out, but the Quantum 2.0 refinements have sealed the deal for me. So much so, in fact, that I've made a...

Axe-Fx II "Quantum" Rev 2.02 Firmware Release

I'm not trying to be nitpicky, here. But... if you like 2.02 modeling the best, why is there a 2.02+ modeling?
