    Drive Models Suck

Cliff, with the fix to DS1's they seem more gainy (eg at 0 drive). But i might be recalling incorrectly. Anyway I was wondering if you've ever considered adding Input Boost (0.1-10) and/or Level Trim (0.1-10) to all drive models (something like amp models have) as a way to give them a wider...

    The CNFB Method

If I understand correctly, CNFB reduces CPU for more complex tube/gain simulations (e.g. using SPICE), but I think DLC86 is right if (most) drives already use a faster method then CNFB might be slower in these cases. The last big drive improvement Cliff made was about simulating diodes more...

    Axe-Fx III Firmware 19.00 Beta 3

I suspected so but seems users are seeing improvement... unless 18 had a bump up in CPU for some reason? Alternatively is there any amp-related overhead on the main processor that could explain what people are seeing? Or it's all just fluctuations in CPU?
  29. yyz67

    Axe-Fx III Firmware 19.00 Beta 3

It seems some folks are seeing lower CPU usage on 19 while others not so much. Anyone care to do a more systematic comparison of CPU impact between 18 and 19b3 with just IN -> 1-2 AMPs -> OUT in the grid?

Would be cool. I think I (and others before me) posted a wish for a "dual boot" functionality (after Ares went bye) so one could swap between two FWs without reloading. IIRC it was nixxed for various valid reasons but can't recall them.

Bug? (since 16.04) in Sequencer and breaking of backward compatibility of Run control

I tried but couldn't get a stable triggering behavior (between STOP and RUN) using Envelope Follower even with the steepest curve. PAUSE state in between seems to mess it up.

    Moving backward?

I have to agree that 15.x/Ares had some special mojo going... yes, perhaps more hi-fi or refined vs Cygnus but really nice detail. Cygnus has awesome things going for it (e.g. eob tones, touch sensitivity, fullness, thump, chug...), but it did feel like I lost 'something' and have kept old...

  42. yyz67

    The CNFB Method

Cool shit Cliff. But let us users not conclude as that 40% improvement in one calculational aspect directly equates to 40% reduction for amps or drives overall due to overhead etc. Plus lab tests don't necessarily translate 100% to production code. Also, if CC does do a rework to "Cygnus X2"...

Bug? (since 16.04) in Sequencer and breaking of backward compatibility of Run control

Hi @Bakerman @GlennO, Any ideas on a workaround for going between sequencer RUN and STOP states (effectively skipping PAUSE) with a modifier curve, e.g. attached to Envelope Follower? Essentially I want to trigger the sequencer starting and stopping with a guitar in a staccato manner.

I appreciate this added functionality! Unfortunately several of my (Axe-unique!) Sequencer-based presets prior to 16.04 that don't work any more since 16.04. This appears to be due to two separate issues: ON state (pre-16.04) not being mapped to RUN but rather to PAUSE. [@yek has noticed this...

    Axe-Fx III Factory Presets 16.04

K thx. I just wonder if this is an old bug that has been there for a while. It seems to me that if an old preset is saved with sequencer in run mode (ON) but they load as PAUSE, that is a bug?

Frequency dependent phase inversion - 80's delay nerdiness

Ah, thanks guys, forgot about Bit Crusher and about the NULL option. It's about 3.0% then and probably sound-wise equivalent to a pure bit/sample reducer block but with some EQ. I can get some gnarly/farty low-bit game sounds especially turning down sampling rate.

  65. yyz67

    Faint noise

In my experience morse code tends to be cell phone. To diagnose the issue you need to track if coming from (or being picked up by) guitar/input, FM9, USB or other. So turn off or remove these elements one by one.

Wish Tone Control Models in Filter Block

I get your wish but pretty sure a filter block with an adjustable low pass freq would get you 90% of the way there for any basic tone control. Treble bleed could be handled by a high pass filter (perhaps in parallel with a vol block). Of course they wouldn't be controllable via your guitar...

Can you copy a scene from a preset and add to another preset?

Sometimes scene/channel switching can have a switching artifact. There are ways around it (e.g. clever channel management with two amp blocks, using multiplexer). Search forum for "seamless" or "gapless" switching. Doesn't matter if search comes up with other Axe models... works similarly in...

Pro tip: if you like more 'openness' (less 'congestion') in your amp OD/distortion, play with turning down Transformer Match (Power Amp tab) a bit.
