I'll watch the rest when I get some free time. Watched thru Atomic Punk. Excellent! I wish I had been able to see them in those days... But I was 10 in '78 and hadn't quite yet discovered KISS, much less Van Halen.

Nobody can answer that for you. It depends on what you are trying to achieve.
  12. unix-guy

What are your favorite expression pedal effect blocks

I mean the CPU usage can jump considerably. Because of that, you could get all sorts of unexpected behavior. Hence why it isn't recommended.

    Which IEM's are you using?

Yeah... And the HD-650 are semi-open, too.
  14. unix-guy

    Which IEM's are you using?

Frequency graphs would be great. I never found any... Honestly, I prefer my HD-650 headphones over the IEMs. If it weren't for gigging/rehearsal I would not use the IEMs.

A midi CC "switch" is on or off... There's no 3-way option unless Fractal did something special specifically for that switch (like Scenes and Channels). @DaveO - I think you might be confusing what the difference between ON vs Ideal is. As far as I know, the amount of saturation would be the...

Good presets for country with a Tele

Anything on AxeChange is free to use. I don't think there's any restriction on sharing them... But maybe I'm wrong.
  18. unix-guy

They say global is where it's at...

Pretty much what I used to do way back when... Once I had more than a handful of presets it was too much work! A template with Global Blocks will be a killer app for you!
  19. unix-guy

The dynamic part mostly affecting Drive blocks (or things that add drive) in my experience. Have you seen otherwise?
  20. unix-guy

    Which IEM's are you using?

I use 1964 Audio V6s (aka, V6 Stage) 6-way custom molds. They were about $650 back when I got them. These days, all their custom stuff is much more expensive (and fancier). Not flat by design... And to an extent I regret that choice. I only found 1 brand that offered a "flat" IEM (Alclair) at...

Could someone guide me in the right direction?

I was going to suggest the Vibroverb and saw that @Techboy57 beat me to it. I know there are 3 models in the Axe Fx, and I'd probably start with the 3rd one - can't remember the exact name right now. Funny that they talked a lot about the pickups of the Silver Sky. All 3 pickups are identical ;)
  26. unix-guy

Bug Found with output mixer on 3.14.5

Does the Output section even support Global Blocks? It's not a block after all... Don't have an Axe Fx II any more to confirm.
  27. unix-guy

What are your favorite expression pedal effect blocks

Be aware that because of the processing required behind the scenes to calculate gain, it's recommended to not assign modifiers to Input Drive. It can cause large CPU spikes. Recommended option is to use Input Trim instead. At least, this was the case for the Axe Fx II.
  28. unix-guy

They say global is where it's at...

That's kind of how I started with Global Blocks on the II. My use case was mostly 1 or 2 presets per gig but the core amp and drive blocks would change while everything else remained the same. Then I combined Global Blocks with Axe-Edit Preset Templates! That way, I could have a favorite...

Questions on Axe-Fx 3, where can I find choice of Mic simulators?

Won't damage anything. It's free software and hence comes with a very typical "use at your own risk" warning. I converted presets from Axe Fx II mkII to XL+ using FracTool - worked flawlessly for me. When I got my Axe Fx III the software wasn't yet supporting it. Many people use it without...
  30. unix-guy

They say global is where it's at...

They allow you to "share" the same block in multiple presets. If you update and save a global block in any preset then all presets using that global block are updated.
  31. unix-guy

What are your favorite expression pedal effect blocks

I have 4 expression pedals. Currently the same use in all presets: Wah - auto-engaged / spring loaded Rotary speed - auto-engaged Delay Mix+Feedback My version of Whammy, which is a pitch block that brings in a 2nd voice +2 octaves - auto-engaged / spring loaded

Questions on Axe-Fx 3, where can I find choice of Mic simulators?

Check out the free software FracTool. It will convert them for you. Once you see how well you like it, make a donation to @AlGrenadine, who makes such a great tool available.
  33. unix-guy

Questions on Axe-Fx 3, where can I find choice of Mic simulators?

Almost all IRs these days have the mic(s) "baked in". There are no mic sims on the Axe Fx III. Cliff and company decided the results are better this way. If you search you can find some IRs that were created via ToneMatch to provide the same EQ curve as the mics from the Axe Fx II.
  34. unix-guy

They say global is where it's at...

How is that you have presets with 3 Drives, multiple delays, Reverb, Cab, etc that are only 63% CPU? Are you running a single IR and Reverb with normal quality and low density?

    AX8 Battery?

Also, I wonder how the AX8 does it without a battery...
  36. unix-guy

    AX8 Battery?

Yes... Those are custom settings. Note that is not the clock. It's the date and time. The clock is a hardware component that counts "ticks" or "cycles". The date and time are merely reference points. ;)
  37. unix-guy

    Block Update Strategy

Yes... Definitely come with their own set of "challenges". Glad to help :)
  38. unix-guy

    AX8 Battery?

BIOS is like the firmware, it doesn't need a battery... Only the settings that can be changed require that.
  39. unix-guy

    AX8 Battery?

The battery is required to keeps custom settings and such. I believe it's also required to keep user presets saved, but not 100% on that. Just like your computer, if you have a dead battery, custom settings in the BIOS (such as the date/time) are lost when power is removed
  40. unix-guy

    Block Update Strategy

Not quite sure I follow you. Every global block has a global instance number. You can see the number used in every preset. Not as nice as a name, but worst case make a list on your computer...
  41. unix-guy

    Block Update Strategy

There is no linkage to the saved block aside from while actively loading/saving it in the current preset. You might want to consider global blocks, but also might not be what you're after. Remember that saved blocks are an Axe-Edit only feature - the Axe Fx itself has no knowledge of them.
  42. unix-guy

    Perform mode question

The parameters are per block. Amp 1 Level will control the level of the Amp 1 block on whatever channel is active... The same as using the actual knob.
  43. unix-guy

    Perform mode question

So you're saying that if you're on Channel A and you adjust a parameter Level that ALL the channels are adjusted at the same time? That makes no sense... I'm not using the perform page currently, but I'll try this next time I'm in front of the Axe Fx.
  44. unix-guy

    Perform mode question

That would seem like a bug to me. The control should affect the active channel only.
  45. unix-guy

    AX8 Battery?

All of the Axe Fx units have an internal battery. Don't know about the AX8, though. @Heinzi - quickest answer would be to email Fractal support unless someone chimes in. Edit after quick forum search: https://forum.fractalaudio.com/threads/ax8-battery.116200/post-1388483

Does a TRS or midi footswitch cable is able to induce noise?

In general, no. As Tom mentioned, you can sometimes get cross talk if cables used for midi are close (usually touching) with audio cables. For expression pedals and switches, I would not expect to even get that because there is only control voltage on the cable.
