Coming from AFX3, all I need is one extra pedal for the FM9

A Digitech Droptune pedal for minor tuning shifts. I like my Pitch block after distortion and parallel routed. Otherwise I would put th e pitch block first in chain for Virtual Capo. Using channels would be ideal, but the sound change is not worth it IMO. I have Wah. Comp, Amp1, Amp2, Cab...

Difference in Modeling coming from Ares to Cygnus

EASE. Your endless "EQ" search is over. At the end of the day, the EQ is what you care about. It's the one's and zero's that make the difference. How those one's and zero's are configured to "smooth out" the digital harsh versus analog signal is where the genius occurs. IMHOOC

    FW Updates for the FM9?

It was chosen carefully and I'm glad you get the restrained angst behind it! Maybe a "with all due respect" could have been thrown in there OR "Bless your little heart". I don't know?

    FW Updates for the FM9?

I know it is not...thus why I posted in the FM9 forum, guy. FW updates happen not just to fix things globally. General improvements and additives are always added along the way. I do not understand your reply and whether it is sarcastic or just "newbie" talk/foreign language barrier?

Performance Page: Able to do this?

I use 2 amp blocks and I only use 1 at a time. As it is in the Perform Page, I have to kno wwhich amp block is active and use both rows in there to tweak amo settings PLUS I have to remember which one of the 8 pairs to which amp block. How about the active amp is what those amp parameters that...

Who uses Ultra res in Cab block?

Brilliant and very good idea...just reduce it and add cab channel for that scene that needs more cpu headroom. Actually I could do this in other areas too, to reduce cpu load for just 1 scene.
  12. Tremonti

Who uses Ultra res in Cab block?

Yes but with the FM9 the Reverb has own chip, so it would not take away CPU from the Cab block. But I get your point.

    Wish REVV Red & Purple

I will say I am the guy saying no more amp models. Not needed. But the Revv line has been ear-triguing to me and would welcome it. "I NOW RENOUNCE MY STATEMENT OF NO MORE AMP MODELS NEEDED!" I feel better.....let's do this.

Popping when switch from Recto to my cabless 80's clean. Why/help?

See attached patch. I use a 3rd party IR, so use your favorite. Pop loud ONLY when going from Recto to this 80's Clean cab-less scene. Ideas and work arounds?
  18. Tremonti

Who uses Ultra res in Cab block?

I prefer it, but it does take up a bit of CPU. Is this a sacrifice you all are making for those kitchen sink patches.
  19. Tremonti

What "extra pedal" are you running with your FM9?

What would you all add for modulation effects? Must be multi pedal that can do spectrum of MOD needs.
  20. Tremonti

    Pedals and FM3/FM9 your opinion

No need for any Reverbs and the FM9 has a dedicated chip just for Reverb and 2 Reverb blocks at full res, uses nothing for CPU. I think a dedicated moducation effects pedal would be a great added pedal if you wanted to ease some CPU. But not necessary depending on your patch build.

    Very much enjoying the FM9!

Update: FM9 has been fun to place on desktop and use editor and have the unit and floor buttons, right there, all in one. Less cables and I really love it. I have had to make minimal tweaks/exceptions to get my sound and rig setup the way I want. Below is my signal path and what I have...

    Joe Bonamassa Fractal or dis?

He is a purest, but I like that he collects guitars that are not mint and have mods to them. They still are crazy expensive, but cool he is not an "original" snob.
  27. Tremonti

    Joe Bonamassa Fractal or dis?

I did not take it as that. I think he was stating that obviously with all the amps in the back, it is not a Fractal or modeler. Tongue in cheek. I think he respects the form, just prefers the tube route. IMO of course.

What "extra pedal" are you running with your FM9?

I too want more fuzz love on what we have and adding more types. We have a lot of models, but there are a ton out there and folks love all kinds of drives. IMO we have a shit ton of amps, so why not have a shit ton of drives/fuzzes? Most guys that use a traditional pedalboard have 1-6+...

Rule of thumb when creating patches on AX3 for FM9?

50% cpu seem to be the ideal ticket? Obviously using blocks that are in both. But as a practice? I want to keep Axe Fx 3 at house and FM9 at studio/rehearsal/live. I want to create on AX3 and dump onto FM9 via laptop. Ya dig?
  32. Tremonti

What "extra pedal" are you running with your FM9?

Def don't "need to", but pedals are fun and I might play around with that to satisfy G.A.S.!
  33. Tremonti

What "extra pedal" are you running with your FM9?

With more loops than the AX8 and FM3, The FM9 allows me to control FOH volume, stage volume and also use 3rd loop for something fun. Ideas?
  34. Tremonti

Loving my FM9, but a full fledged Axe Fx 3 power in a 12 button FC12 size would be amazing!

I do think they will release a full bore power of the AX3 in a pedal form. I would pay whatever......
  35. Tremonti

    AX8 to FM9

The "perfect tone" is easier and faster to dial up in the FM9 vs AX8. Basic tweak, if anything , and you're there. Higher resolution sounding because it is. Too many things to name really. ZERO DOWNSIDE

Flat out: Why hasn't Fractal given us the ability to invert the colors on the LCD screens?

They mentioned over a year ago that they would "have some guys look into it". Can this not be done? If it can, please with sugar in top. If it can't, then state and I will go fixate on somethings else, like why Apple doesn't allow you to put the battery percentage in the top bar anymore. I...

Scenes vs Patches with FM9: Switching speed and CPU

Ok my AX3 I use scenes and have a master with everything in it, on every preset. I works and I don't have to mess with much. The FM9 has less power than the AX3 and have had to slim them down naturally for the FM9 conversion. Question: Scenes vs Patches and gaps....big difference? I'm...

    Very much enjoying the FM9!

Been using Fractal since 2008 and had the Standard AFX1, AFX2, FX8, AX8, FM3, FC6, FC12, AFX3 and now the FM9. Well versed in Fractal and this thing is great. Very powerful and scratched that itch that an FM3 and FC6 couldn't do. I'm trying to unseat the Axe Fx 3 and just use the FM9. I will...

Something needs to be titrated, soldered or voodoo'd on, is my best guess.

Why did they leave out global blocks? That is really only one I’m bummed about. I can deal with everything else.

    IEM best practices

I jump and sweat a lot when playing. I started with Westone Ambient universal fit. Sounded great but sweat would leak into ear and impeded sound. Now I have triple drover custom Dream Earz and I love them! That and a MIPRO909 digital trans/rec.

    Inverted colors for scribbles

RJM isn't hard , but the FC with the Fractal gear is just natively easier.
  66. Tremonti

    Sell me on dual amps

Simple. I do not use 2 amps at once. BUT, with 2 amp blocks and channels, you have 8 amps you can use in any scene/preset. That is awesome and the reason why it matters to me.
  67. Tremonti

Thornbucker pickups - odd high end?

I have them in a USA PRS Tremonti, and 5 strat type guitars. All different woods and trem systems. All stellar!
  68. Tremonti

    Inverted colors for scribbles

Yeah I do not think they are going to do this. They would have already. It has been on the wish list FOREVER. I have given up unfortunately. As much as I want and like the RJM GT22, the FC12 is just too easy to use.
  69. Tremonti

updating to cygnus - I know i'm late

Updated mine will little to no tweak from previous firmware. But I don't know what FW you are coming from, nor the blocks used....so hard to say whether you will have to tweak a lot or not. Sounds great though and not BS at all. Real solid improvement in modeling.
  70. Tremonti

Thornbucker pickups - odd high end?

I literally have Thornbuckers in 5 of my guitars....so I know them WELL! Also I am a guitar tech. I do not find the Thornbuckers to be harsh on the high end at all. I do think because they are lower output that they have more of a single coil sound percussive sound though. At least to my...
