JCM800 2203x halfstack vs AXE FIII w/poweramp and cab

The only thing I can say is: „I sold my Friedman BE 100 DLX with a matching cab and I never looked back!“ Together with my Red Sound Speakers, it’s the best and most versatile sound and setup that I ever had in more than 25 years of professional live and recording.

Is the Mk I now a little outdated?

I second that. Just for me, I don’t need the Full Res Cab. I don’t like to play with Headphones and when it comes to recording I would always ad my effects post recording. That’s meant, recording a dry guitar with full res IR and then add effects after recording. For my personal usage, I prefer...

Build quality of the current Gibson guitars?

I do not want to bash a company here but I did work for a local Luthier in Germany and we also did a lot repairs for local Music Shops. There is a reason why I personally prefer other companies.

    Crazy Lixx

For everyone who is interested. I did send Chrisse a message and he responded quickly to me (just awesome, many many thanks!) He did use the 1987 in the AX8 and for now he uses mostly the 50W Plexit and the Brit 800 with the ML Sound Labs IR. The IR is called :“The best IR in the World“ and it’s...

Thank you Leon! I highly appreciate that, I will give them a try. I have done a preset with the 50W Plexi but I will try how close I can get. It seem that the secret is the right kind of boost etc. Thank you!

    Crazy Lixx

I just love this band and they dethroned Steefl Panther for this 80‘s sound for me. I know they are using Fractal Audio exclusive for live and recording. Has anyone a clue which amps and cabs they are using in the Axe? I can only guess it’s a Atomica, FAS Hot Rodded etc. I would love to see...

from Friedman BE100 Deluxe to Axe FX III?

Yes, I did compare them with both the CLR and the ASM and I ended up buying the Red Sound. There are many good speakers out there, CLR, Friedman, Xitone etc. and it depends on what you exactly want. I can't describe it better than Sukh. The CLR are absolutely great speakers and they are maybe...

I fully agree. While artists are still playing with a Axe I, Axe II or Axe III MKI, Bedroomplayers complaining about having no Axe Turbo. Honestly I don’t get it… Why not enjoying what you have? I played the last few hours with the new Full Res IR with my MKII and just for me I can say that this is nothing that I really need. FRFR For Live Performance

  21. Sashman

Can someone help explain this to me? Losing my mind again here.

Yes and no. The Mariposa and Stingray Pickups are more Vintage output like. The Pickups in my Luke are hot, like the Dimarzios in the Axis. But yeah, to me the main difference is the guitar. The Mariposa with the EBMM Pickups sound just glorious. More open, transparent and crisp sounding. The...

IRs York Audio Master Thread - Newest Cab Pack: VH+ 412 P50E

I love the M25 Cab Pack and I can highly recommend the MRS Black Cab Pack, more mid pronounced and tighter sounding than the M25. I love that Cab Pack in combination with the Atomica or CCV, just glorious!

I never sit down. I always stand while playing and tweaking. Back in my days as a studio musician I didn’t use a chair either but that’s all personal preference.

The Firemist Purple is something special. There is a connection that’s hard to describe. I can only speak for myself, I always just need one guitar for everything. Any EBMM owners?

Not a bad trio at all. I‘m surprised by the maple Top LIII, same pickups as the fuchsia sparkle one but different body woods. Okoume and maple against alder. The Cherry burst maple top sounds fatter beefier and more honky like a Les Paul, love it!

[SOLVED] My Guitar sounds incredibly fuzzy, flabby, and frankly awful with modern high gain tones - what can I do to fix the sounds?

Maybe but when its good enough for Steve Lukather, it should be good enough for me. 39. Sashman

[SOLVED] My Guitar sounds incredibly fuzzy, flabby, and frankly awful with modern high gain tones - what can I do to fix the sounds?

The JB Pickup was always flubby with downtunings. There are some pickups like the Suhr Aldrich which are similar in sound but can handle downtunings a lot better.
  40. Sashman

[SOLVED] My Guitar sounds incredibly fuzzy, flabby, and frankly awful with modern high gain tones - what can I do to fix the sounds?

Depends on the guitar. All my Music Man guitars have pickups who are mounted directly to the wood and they Sound that good that I would never ever change that.
  41. Sashman

[SOLVED] My Guitar sounds incredibly fuzzy, flabby, and frankly awful with modern high gain tones - what can I do to fix the sounds?

Presets sounding excellent through my rig as well. Guitars are Music Man LIII here, so it seems that there is nothing wrong with the presets. Your recordings doesn’t sound that there is something wrong with the Axe FX, more some kind of a level and/or pickup reason like others already mentioned...

I have seen your posts on various Facebook groups and now here. I don’t think That this is an Fractal issue, you should contact your dealer or Headrush customer support. I completely disagree with the first part but maybe you didn’t get my point.
  47. Sashman

from Friedman BE100 Deluxe to Axe FX III?

that’s difficult, you have to hear that in person because the FRFR speaker sounds already like a miced cab and you won’t get good results if you mic them again and compare them to a 4x12. All I can say is, I compared a few amps, a Friedman BE 100 Deluxe, a SLO 100, a JCM 800, a JTM 45 and a Vox...

from Friedman BE100 Deluxe to Axe FX III?

Yes me. I had the Friedman BE100 Deluxe with a matching cab and I switched to the Axe FX III and Red Sound Speakers. I can say that I didn't regret anything. I did love the Friedman but the Axe III is more versataile and I can easily nail the BE 100 Deluxe Sound and the JJ 100 and and and...

Gap between neck and body on j custom.

I did work a few years for a local luthier and I did build many guitars, necks etc. and we let never leave an Instrument with a gap like that. I disagree with that it’s only cosmetic but if the guitar sounds fine and plays fine and you are ok with the gaps then keep it. Otherwise return it.
  69. Sashman

What are your favorite FRFR speakers?

No, I use them on stage, they work perfekt. But you have to keep in mind that they have a different angle than a wedge. They are more like a guitar cab. I do use both MF10 and/or Elis 8 on stage, they work great for me. They are build to use them on higher volume, they are not made for home use...

No problems here with Elis 8 or MF in gig or rehearsal situations. Even the Elis 8 are powerful enough to keep up with our loud drummer and our other guitarist using a 4x12 Orange with a 100 Watt Rockverb top or his Mesa 4x12 with his Rectifier. I have to say I use always one active and one...
