Poll - What cabs do you want?

All of my packs contain 500ms IRs, and most of the packs include room captures. So you can use the full length of the room captures with FullRes if you want. I don’t have any plans to capture additional rooms for all of my products, but I’m going to mess around with some room stuff for a few...

I just needed to make something.

Thanks man! I’ll look at the patch when I’m in front of the Axe again, but it was probably just the rhythm tone with a flanger, delay (probably mind guy with modulation depth down to around 10%), and a reverb (probably the London Plate) going into the amp. Sometimes I’ll use a tube screamer with...
  3. York Audio

    AITR

All of the files in a YA pack are 500ms, so using any of the Mixes and Single mics with FullRes will probably just accentuate some low end, so you don’t need to use FullRes with those. The Room mics will sound much better with FullRes though, so that will be fun to try.
  4. York Audio

    AITR

Thanks man. My room captures are all 500ms, but I’ve got some ideas for larger and longer room sounds to try to FullRes. If they sound cool, I’ll include them in future packs.

    AITR

It would be amazing if the Mk I would work. As someone suggested earlier, I fully support making the factory cabs downloadable and allowing that space to be used for FullRes IRs. Those who use the factory IRs can download what they want, and those who don’t use factory IRs could utilize that...

I can easily do that. Fractal is the only modeler I know of that has variable impedance curves, so I’ll put that in the Fractal section of the manuals moving forward. Thanks for the suggestion!

Help with this modern pop-punk style tone

Yeah, to be honest, I’m not a big fan of the BE/HBE models without tweaking the depth frequency and digging into advanced parameters. Those models have so much low-mid content that it’s easier to just pick a different model than to go down the rabbit hole. The Solo Lead model is hands down my...

It’s been a while, but I think it’s the Solo Lead model. That’s easily my favorite high gain model in the Axe because it’s so clear and you really hear the character of the guitar you’re playing. Man, thanks for the kind words. I never know how these clips will translate, so it means a lot that...

Help with this modern pop-punk style tone

@strabes For that era, there were two main amps that sort of defined "that sound." A Dual Rec (preferably a 2-channel) and the original Marshall JCM 2000 DSL 100 (not the new DSL) through a Mesa OS 4x12 cab. Sometimes they were used on their own and sometimes they would be blended to get the...

My cab measured at 113Hz, and the 4x12 Solo 100 was the closest curve to this cab. I THINK that's the only curve from a front-loaded cab in the list. I think it sounds great with the stock resonance at 106Hz for a slightly tighter sound.

My M65s are 16ohm. I’d agree with you that 8ohm speakers tend to have a little more mids and 16ohm speakers tend to have a little deeper low end and more air on the top. If you’re running a 2x12, I’d go with the 16ohm versions so you can run your amp at 8ohms. For what it’s worth, the two M65s...

I haven't. The Master Volume drives me nuts on the Infinity 3 because having it on 10 boosts the signal, so you have to take it down to around 2 o'clock to get in the unity gain ballpark, but it's still not exact and adds some upper mids and top end just having it in the chain. It makes perfect sense. When we use real amps at a gig, it's normally mic'ed with just a 57. It cuts in the mix, and the 57 tends to be "the sound" we think of when it comes to electric guitar. My favorite single mic is the 58 though. It's got a really cool character to it, and I like how it...

IRs York Audio Master Thread - Newest Cab Pack: VH+ 412 P50E

Man, it makes me happy that you want stuff in York cabs. That’s still so stinkin’ cool to me. The pack I’m currently working on is the taller “Golden” York Audio 2x12, so it’ll be interesting to see if that one mirrors the success of the DV77 pack. These cabs will see A LOT of speakers though.

I’ve already got four 12-L’s loaded in my old Marshall Checkerboard 4x12. If there’s a large enough demand for it, I may bump it up on my to-do list.

It’s in the queue, but the next pack will be something that’s had more requests. Don’t worry though, it’s coming. Thanks man. It feels like it’s on its way out. I’m just ready to capture some more stuff, but want to make sure my ears are in a good spot.

IRs York Audio Master Thread - Newest Cab Pack: VH+ 412 P50E

It’s been busy over here experimenting with cabs, speakers, and gear, so that’s why I haven’t released anything in a bit. The country finally opened up and I got hit with a cold pretty much immediately, so I’m taking test shots now and will make final decisions once the gunk in my head clears...

    Who likes FREE stuff?

Thanks man! I’m glad those shots have held up since 2019 and you’re enjoying them. The Class-A cab was my buddy’s old beat up Matchless cab. One of the speakers was messed up, so I can’t remember if this one was the M25 or the H30.

Celestion Alnico Cream IRs. Why so few?

You’re gonna love it! And the more you play it and break it in, the better it will sound. My pair is from 1994, so they’re nicely broken in and sound great in every cab I’ve tried them in. Once you install it, try using a looper and let it run at bedroom volume for about ten minutes, then turn...

Celestion Alnico Cream IRs. Why so few?

I think so. An artist came to my studio last week to try them in person and wants to order one. I still want more people to field test them before producing more to make sure that more people like them. I’ve got some cool ideas for the final product as well to make them even more unique, so...

Celestion Alnico Cream IRs. Why so few?

Yup. It’s from the larger 2x12. That one is becoming my favorite of the two sizes. So far, it hasn’t met a speaker it didn’t like. When I do the Alnico Cream, it’ll be in a York Audio cab, but a different one than what was used for the DV77 pack. :) It’s gonna be great!

    Wish Updated Speaker Impedance Control

I’m measuring them with DATS, which sends a sweep through the cab and gives the ohms, low frequency resonance, and the impedance curve.

Celestion Alnico Cream IRs. Why so few?

Thanks man. I’m not working on an Alnico Cream pack at the moment. Just had a little spare time and wanted to give something back to the community. It’s definitely a speaker and cab that will be fun to capture though. :) I’m just glad that some of you are finding it useful.

What studio monitors are you using

ATC makes incredible stuff. They’re on the pricy side, but you get what you pay for. They’ve got amazing detail in the midrange and have defined bass and an articulate natural top end. When your mix sounds good on them, it tends to translate well on other sources because they aren’t hyped and...

IRs York Audio Master Thread - Newest Cab Pack: VH+ 412 P50E

That spike would be probably be more prominent with different mic placements. There isn’t any EQ on those captures, so it’s just the natural combination of the speaker, cab, mic, and position. It sounds full and balanced to my ears. I guess when I hear “cheese grater,” I think of that 4-6k...

I just needed to make something.

Thanks! As far as mix stuff goes, I wish I had the drums set to multi-out to have more control over those elements. It would also be fun to mess with some multi-band compression, saturation, and find interesting delays and reverbs. That stuff doesn’t really matter in the context of just throwing...

IRs York Audio Master Thread - Newest Cab Pack: VH+ 412 P50E

Thanks for picking up the pack! I attached the DV77 frequency plot from Eminence’s website so you can “see” what you’re hearing. My guess is that your guitar might be accentuating some upper mid/lower treble content so you’re hearing the speaker’s 4k spike more. Try going into the Amp’s GEQ page...

Poll - What cabs do you want?

It’s an interesting concept. Basically removing a speaker to make a port for more low end could be kinda cool. It’s definitely something worth exploring. Thanks for the tip!
