Just how loud are open back headphones anyway?

My sennheiser HD650s are audibly loud, but not so loud that I couldn't do late night preset tweaking.

Creating Jazz Guitar Tones (First Post)

To me, the trick in getting those smoky archtop tones is just turning down the tone knob on my guitar and using the neck pickup. Ampwise I'm usually happy with some kind of a fender or a jc120 model. I tend to turn down the treble in the amp too. IRL, I think a polytone was what i used to...

    Let's see those FM3 rigs!

Also, just something to think about. The mx-5 has two "pages" available, with long and short presses for each switch on each page, so you really do have a lot of options. I have mine more or less set up with individual effects on/off on the first page short press, and effects channel increment...

    Let's see those FM3 rigs!

That's exactly why I haven't gone for the FC6 - I want to shrink my pedalboard, not grow it! As it is, this is still bigger than my ax8 board, but I can live with it, and part of it is unavoidable anyway - I abandoned the mini volume and exp pedals I was using in favor of full-sized pedals...

    Let's see those FM3 rigs!

Sure thing lol - MX 5 and the heaphone amp above the eb vp are powered from the FASlink port - I bought a 9VDC converter which takes the 11V from the port and makes 9V for those two. It's built into this giant octopus cable that has 1 end for the FASLINK, (that's the green plug in the back)...

    Let's see those FM3 rigs!

I have it set up to always be volume - it's connected directly to the FM3. The mission is mostly wah, but controls other parameters too. That one goes in through via CC through the MX-5.

    Let's see those FM3 rigs!

Yeah, everything that I could is fixed to the board via screws going into the back of the plywood: FM3, voes MX-5 (against voes own recommendation 😬), both exp pedals, and the little headphone amp in the upper right. I countersunk all the holes in the back of the plywood, so that the board...

    USB vs SPDIF observations

Right, that's why i tried clocking my interface from the FM3 via spdif, when i was using USB as an input, but that didn't seem to clean it up,
  15. gdgross

    USB vs SPDIF observations

Could be! I'm probably overestimating it too; I didn't actually measure it. But at this point, and esp given the strange bacon frying sound I hear, it's a bit of a don't care for me: I'll use SPDIF for audio and USB for connecting to FM3 edit. (although as it would be nice to bypass the...

    USB vs SPDIF observations

Good point haha, i forgot that technically that's two interfaces, one on the way in and one on the way out! I didn't measure latency, but based on how it felt I'm gonna guess it was less than 50ms going in through USB? The latency in the SPDIF connection was not noticeable (to me at least) My...

    USB vs SPDIF observations

Morning all - On the ax8 we didn't have USB audio, so I got used to using SPDIF only for getting sound into my DAW, and that's how I've been operating for years. Now with the FM3, we have the option of USB audio, so I figured I'd give it a try this morning. I have a few observations: 1...

    Different controllers per channel?

right - i've not tried an auto wah before with an ADSR controller - we'll see how i like it! worst case, I use two blocks.
  20. gdgross

    Different controllers per channel?

Cool solution M@ - I'll play with this tonight. I don't use auto engage anyway (just can't get away from that toe switch), so it actually ought to work better for this situation. (also i like using the exp pedal for other parameter controls too, and don't want my wah popping on when i do that!)
  21. gdgross

    Different controllers per channel?

HI all, is it possible to have different controllers set up for different channels of the same block? my main application would be using a wah block as a traditional expression pedal controlled device on channel 1, and a envelope controlled Mu-tron kind of device on channel two. it seems that...

how to assign fsw to control switch?

i don't know why I can't figure this out. The manual and FSW guide seem to talk about control switches and MIDI a lot, but not about how to assign an external footswitch (FS2 ring in my case) to a control switch. Where the heck do I do this? did i miss the pages in the manual/fsw guide that...

    Spring Reverb types

That's what I had thought too, but I have a particular preset that, of the 4 reverb channels, the only channel that puts it over the CPU usage warning is the channel with the "large spring" type. (Same results with med and small spring btw).

Hey all trying to pare down the CPU use on some patches - I notice that the spring reverb types don't have a "quality" setting like the other types. I'm normally using "economy" just to save CPU, but it seems I'm not able to do this with the springs? Is this by design, or am i missing a...

    Any way to separate metronome?

And those 1/4" cables for that matter, they are nice and small!
  40. gdgross

    Any way to separate metronome?

yep! I can put out the isolated metronome out of output 2 and the normal guitar output out of 1. It just doesn't remember your settings between power cycles, so you need to turn up the click volume each time

Multiple Block Puzzle - can this be done?

kinda like manny's idea - I could set all my "modulation" blocks to the same CC, and bypass them all together with the short press, then use the long press to select multiplexer channels. Not a Bug Stand in Switch bug?

OK, this half works. WIth sw 2 ring polarity set to Normally Open/Momentary Make, and the Sw 2 Behavior set to "follow hardware", the hold function on the switch correctly bypasses the block (PEQ in my cas). But it only bypasses the block i've selected for the tap function when I hold the...
