Tribute to Eddie Van Halen (w/ free patch)

Thanks dude!! Glad those screenshots helped! Really appreciate the kind words man! Eddie's right hand was everything, I actually love his rhythm playing/riffs even more than his solos, he really was one of a kind.
  8. ProgressiveRocco

Tribute to Eddie Van Halen (w/ free patch)

Just connect the reverb and delay to the main signal path (like the pitch block) and it should be fine!

Tribute to Eddie Van Halen (w/ free patch)

    Thank you so much Cliff!
  10. ProgressiveRocco

Tribute to Eddie Van Halen (w/ free patch)

If you swap the Plexi with the 6160 block (bass at 6, mids at 3 or 4, treble at 6), and keep the pitch detune and stereo delay on it's pretty much the Balance tone ;) I personally like that album, but I'm not a huge fan, I feel he really started to change his sound from that record, tons of gain...

Tribute to Eddie Van Halen (w/ free patch)

I think it's safe to say Eddie's passing left a void in the guitar world that will never be filled. In my opinion there's never been anyone so influential, inspiring and creative as EVH, he took what Hendrix did 10 years prior and brought it to a whole other level. The electric guitar as an...
  15. ProgressiveRocco

Van Hagar and beyond EVH - that detune effect?

His sound was definitely more chorus-y, I believe he was using the lexicon pcm 41 to get a chorus-like effect, but I personally prefer the fixed pitch detune, especially on rhythms, doesn't get as swirly/swampy but still retains a very similar feel!
  16. ProgressiveRocco

Van Hagar and beyond EVH - that detune effect?

^ ^ ^ ^ This ;) That's the setting I'm using, sounds spot on to my ears. Anything more than -9/+9 is too much for Ed's stuff IMO. I like to crank it to -11/+11 for more of a Chris Holmes tone, always loved his guitar sound on WASP's early stuff. 11/12 cents works great for Mick Mars/Dr Feelgood...
  17. ProgressiveRocco

Van Hagar and beyond EVH - that detune effect?

I personally love that VH era! I've got a (free) patch coming out in a few days which includes the harmonizer/detune effect, nails pretty much everything from 5150 and beyond 🤘🏻😉Gonna post it here on the forum as soon as the video is up!

How to Get Periphery 4 Guitar Tone

99.9% sure the main amp throughout the album is the PVH 6160 Block, that's Misha's favorite, he goes over his patches quite often in his Twitch/Youtube streams. He also probably used the Friedman BE on the tighter/lower gain parts

    VAN HALEN - 5150 (1986) video w/patch

Thanks man, yeah as you said there have been so many firmware updates since this patch was made 6 years ago, it's gonna sound completely different now because of it unfortunately! You could use it as a starting point but you'll definitely have to tweak pretty much every block. The new one I'm...

Hey guys! Had some fun trying to recreate the main theme from John Carpenter's Escape From New York (1981), one of my all time favorite action movies! I've used a super simple patch with the 5150 block + clean boost (guitars are coming in at 1:54), played with a 7 string! George Lynch // Lynch Mob tone w/patch

The PEQ block has got just 5 bands, they weren't enough for all the eq moves I needed to make, this is why I've used all four! Most of the times when you boost a certain frequency you inherently end up boosting surrounding frequencies that can end up sounding offensive/unpleasant. If you look...

George Lynch // Lynch Mob tone w/patch

Hey guys! :) This is my take on George Lynch’s tones on Wicked Sensation, one of my favorite albums ever! The guitar sound varies quite a lot throughout the album, I’ve done some research and I’m pretty sure the heart of it was his 1988 modded Soldano SLO-100, he also used Engls and his famous...

TOP 5 ROCK/METAL AMPS (free patches)

basically what @NightWalker said, I like to use the input gate in a more subtle way just to get rid of unwanted hiss from the amp, and then put a proper gate block in the chain to really get that "staccato" effect when playing those modern djent-style rhythms!
