    4CM - Getting Levels Correct

Ah I get it now. But man, i'm not sure I am keen on not being able to touch the Volume on my amp in a live setting. Sometimes I gotta lean over and some volume after we get goin or vice versa. Or does the AXEFX OUT1 become my master volume? The Rivera Venus Deux Recording is a single channel all...

    4CM - Getting Levels Correct

I kind of follow what you are saying. So run the axefx into the FX loop ONLY and plug my pedalboard/Guitar STRAIGHT into the amp. How do I know the input and outputs are matched? When you are referring to Unity, do you mean BOTH output knobs need to be cranked? Or that the Input/Output meters...

    4CM - Getting Levels Correct

Hey all, so I am wanting to use the 4CM with my Rivera Venus Duex Recording 55w amp, and use the axefx just for effects only. I know how to route the cables and all that, but am having a hard time wrapping my head around getting the levels and output knobs set correctly. Here are some of the...

Seymour Duncan Powerstage 700 and AXE_FXMKII routing

2pt question: Looking at this picture of Mark Holcomb demoing the PS700. Looks like he is going: GUITAR>AXEFX>OUTPUT2>POWERSTAGE>CABINET. Looking at his chain in axe edit though... The FXloop block is in the front bypassing all the blocks. He also has a CAB block. You'll also notice in the...

    Transitions between songs?

Try and use Scenes vs. changing presets. I pack 95% of my tones/changes in a single preset for each song. You can get away with using 89-90% CPU before the processor starts giving you that bit crackle. The less loading/processing the axe-fx has to do then the less latency you will have. When you...

Who wants TOSIN ABASI's LIVE ANALOG RIG TONE? ;)

Thats Tosin's board, not mine. His board really isn't that complicated when you get down to it. But ya, I was able to match his rhythm tone(s) and slap tones pretty damn close, using a very basic axe-fx setup. Check out the attachment, and try for yourself. I'm curious as to what others think.

Who wants TOSIN ABASI's LIVE ANALOG RIG TONE? ;)

So...I have watched AAL's Latest Rig Rundown and as many of you probably know, Tosin is completely Analog now. He uses a Morgan amp which is super clean and has lots of headroom. He gets all the gain staging from various OD pedals and Clean boosts in front of the amp. It actually makes a lot of...

Im not at home to open the files but I would highly recommend using Global blocks for your amps and cabs. It will really help streamline your preset building. MIC'd Cab or DI from Axe-Fx

MIC'd Cab or DI from Axe-Fx

We use IEM, so no we don't HAVE to, but the original idea for the CABS on stage were for the obvious and traditional reasons. They were for the people up front, and so we could feel our sound on stage AND hear em when we/if we want by taking one ear out or whatever

MIC'd Cab or DI from Axe-Fx

I intentionally did it this way to see how each sounded in UNISON with the CABS/backline, not an A/B of which was more "accurate." In a typical live setting (local music venue, bar etc.) you are going to always hear the backline...and I wanted to use that as part of the mix vs. fighting the...

I guess it depends on the IR, but we tried several Orange 4X12 CAB IR's from the ML Cab Packs and everytime we still voted that the ACTUAL Mic'd cab sounded better. I spent all of yesterday with my band testing live sounds in my living room. It's a fairly large room and we did our best to emulate a Live Venue stage/FOH setup. Calling all sound guys - 2 guitars stereo mix down to FOH?

Pretty much every venue we play at is setup for stereo...but even so I have had sound guys still screw it up, running me in mono. Calling all sound guys - 2 guitars stereo mix down to FOH?

SoO... I know most venue house sound guys prefer taking a single DI (or single mic'd cab) from guitarists...I've been running stereo for a while now being the only guitarist so my theory was two channels DI to FOH and have sound guy treat them like TWO guitarists each channel panned hard or on...

Who is using external Soundcards with their band for DI to FOH?

Im curious if it matters to go Direct out from the AXEFX to FOH or Direct out from AXEFX into Soundcard (18i/20) then to FOH. We use IEM so the Soundcard is necessary. I ask bc i feel like im losing some tone/gain staging by going through the scarlett...could just be me though....

Update: I A/B'd my DI tones and my Mic'd CAB tones and honestly the MIC'd CABs sounded better coming out of the PA, but I still didn't want to deal with mic'ing cabs every show. I realized the nuances from the Mic'd cab sound was most likely the speaker drive, room, air and of course the mic...

I'm definitely running the MIMIQ in stereo, I know exactly what you you are referring to though and I have made triple sure that FOH either runs my DI as a stereo pair or two MONO channels panned hard. Also for leads I created scenes that turn off one amp and pan it back center so ALL of my...

I LOVE THE AXE-FX-Live Double tracked Guitars & Backing Tracks=HUGE.

So we played last Friday night using this new setup and it was the best we have ever sounded according to our fans/audience. I had at least 10 people come up to me after the show and ask what I was doing rig/guitar wise. Great success!!!

Best outputs to use for FOH???

My thoughts exactly, in regards to skipping a step of digital to analog conversion. I think i'm gonna give it a try. We use the scarlett 18i20 bc I need the I/O options. Stereo Guitars, Stereo Backing tracks, Bass, VOX all go DI to FOH, and then of course I need MORE I/O for IEM system o_O I do...

Best outputs to use for FOH???

thanks, i know XLR is typically best, just wondering if I could get away with running SPDIF to my scarlett and then from Scarlett XLR out to FOH.

Best outputs to use for FOH???

I run Stereo from axe-fx to a Scarlett 18i20 to FOH. Im wondering which is the best output to use from axe-fx. XLR, TS, or SPDIF? I'd love to be able to free up some I/O on my scarlett by going SPDIF but not sure if there is tonal quality loss... thanks in advance.

Nope, TravisG406 is correct. I took it a step further though and recorded the backing tracks to alternate between GI and GII, so by the end of the song I will have played live EVERY guitar part at least once. Pretty honest attempt IMO. I have been experimenting w/live sound in Stereo and MONO...
