so... talk me out of artificially increasing the bass in a celestion g10 greenback ir?

I don’t think Celestion breaks their speakers in before they capture them, so they tend to lack low end. An easy fix in the cab block is raising the Proximity parameter. It’s just a low end boost, but it should help you get more body out of a thinner sounding speaker.

Haha! Different strokes for different folks. :) I normally use the Solo 100 Lead and mainly adjust Presence and Depth controls whenever I’m auditioning new IRs. Cut through the mix: something I do not understand

@Kingfloyd You might want to try messing with the ducking controls in the delay and reverb blocks. It lets you keep things clear and lush by attenuating the effects when you’re picking and raising them back up as your note decays. Play with the threshold and release times to find the right...

The ENGL would. It has a really punchy low end and clear midrange. The G12-65 is more of a “vintage” sounding speaker that works great with Plexi and Dumble style amps. I’ve got my Dual Rec cranked through it on a looper as we speak to help it settle in. Sounding pretty sick so far.

    York audio v30 cab

Older, or “aged” speakers CAN sound better, but not always. I’ve bought lots of older speakers that didn’t sound that great, so it’s the luck of the draw. The T75s in my MRSH 412 T75 pack are from 1990 (I just checked). They’re the “skunkback” version that are warmer than the current version...

IRs York Audio Master Thread - Newest Cab Pack: MRSH 412 MV30-Dual

I’m glad you’re liking the sound of those packs and they’re making recording really easy for you. For the practice room, your listening source is EVERYTHING when it comes to sound and feel. A 1x12” PA cab pointed at your face won’t hit you like a cranked 4x12 aimed at your legs no matter what...

IRs York Audio Master Thread - Newest Cab Pack: MRSH 412 MV30-Dual

The VX30 pack is pretty awesome. A friend of mine is using the Mix BMAY for the We Will Rock You musical and told me that Brian really loved his tone, so that one is working well for the Queen thing. The Mix EDGY nails the early U2 sound, and I’ve had a lot of messages about Edge fans loving...

    York audio v30 cab

I haven’t been able to start the official shoot yet due to my schedule and crappy weather, so I don’t have anything but the test shots so far (which already sound awesome). I’ve had a few people request the Bogner V30/T75 combo… it means I need to buy a couple newer T75 speakers. I have an ‘85...

Poll - What cabs do you want?

Eventually, yes. The free one I posted was in a closed back 2x12. I’ve currently got them in an open back 2x12 and need to compare them to see which is the better fit for the speaker. I’ve got two pre-Rola M25 75Hz greenbacks and have two pre-Rola H30 75 Hz greenbacks on the way. You’ll be...

    York audio v30 cab

I haven’t started officially capturing it yet, so I don’t know when it will be ready. I used the 4x12 Euro curve with it and set the low resonance to 112 Hz.

FullRes IRs vendors or packs ?

FullRes IRs are longer than what we could previously use in our Fractals. I think the current length of UltraRes IRs is around 180-200ms, whereas the FullRes IRs can go up to something like 1.3 seconds. You'd use those as Room mics to gradually blend with your primary IR for a little natural...

    York audio v30 cab

Here's the thing... a V30 isn't simply a V30. There are many versions of that speaker with different specs that all sound different. To go a layer deeper, even two identical V30s can sound completely different. Going even further, the cabinet construction plays a huge role in the speaker's...

    York audio v30 cab

I just got done shooting test files for a Marshall 1960bv with Marshall Vintage speakers. This one is going to be incredible! I just had a platinum selling artist at my studio that brought his 1960bv that we compared to mine… mine was a CLEAR winner and immediately had him on Reverb trying to...

FullRes IRs vendors or packs ?

My new FTWN 212 D120F (Fender Twin with JBL D120F speakers) has FullRes Room L and R IRs. All of my forthcoming packs will contain those captures. :)

    Wish Mesa Dual Caliber DC-5

The DC-5 is such a cool amp. The clean channel is gorgeous, the clean/gain boost is delightfully raunchy, and the lead channel is just massive. The gain texture feels like it’s in between a Mark series and an Orange. That’s the amp I reach for if I want that Weezer Blue Album wall of sound.

    York audio v30 cab

For now, I’d say the Bogna pack would be the closest to the 1960bv. That’s the next cab on my to-do list. I still have to compare cabinets and do a bit of testing before I’m able to officially start capturing that cabinet, so I’m not sure when that one will be released. I want to make sure it’s...

    3rd party IR question

Maybe not brighter, but “clearer” than most. You might like the CN captures in the packs if you want them a little darker in the top end. My advice to any new Fractal user is pretty simple. Treat it like a real rig and it will sound like a real rig. Start with your cab, since that’s the...

    3rd party IR question

You’re loading everything correctly and you’re hearing them correctly. If you’re using York Audio IRs, you’re getting an authentic frequency response of the mics and mic placements you’re using. It’s important to remember that you need to tweak your amp settings around the IR you’ve chosen. If...

IRs York Audio Master Thread - Newest Cab Pack: MRSH 412 MV30-Dual

Try the the Mix NUMB from the HWAT pack. You’ll probably need to tweak your amp settings, but that’s the one I’d start with. Thanks! And sure, I just need to organize the preset next time I’m in front of my Axe before sharing it.

IRs York Audio Master Thread - Newest Cab Pack: MRSH 412 MV30-Dual

Yup, it's true. I just released the York Audio FTWN 212 D120 Cab Pack based on a 1971 Fender Twin Reverb combo loaded with the original JBL D120F speakers. This thing is absolutely glorious! The pack also contains FullRes length ROOM L and R captures if you want that AITR experience. Here...
