Charvel Guthrie Govan vs DK-24

Just checked Pro Audio Star again, they have both flame and caramelized models "used" and new.
Which is odd, to say the least.
The "used" ones explicitly don't have the manufacturer's warranty, which "open box" typically does.
$2,699.99 vs $3299.99, significant.

You could always try the "November Sales Event" coupon they keep showing me, for another 5% off used and demo, 15% off new.

For some reason, I kinda just don't trust those guys though.
Anyone have personal experience with them?
I bought a new LTD SN-1000FR from them recently. No problems encountered (I did keep it though, so I can't say how they handle returns).

Done! I've pulled the trigger for the Pink DK-24 HSS. I will receive it in one or two days

I couldn't feel more happy... until I've seen this porn pic, here in Bangkok. These chicks are rare here:

I've talked with the seller, and he would trade it for my Schecter Nick Johston USA Custom Shop, plus $1,900. The Tom Anderson is new.

OMG! What can I do now???

If I had seen that before, I would have not ordered the Charvel. I am not a pro player, and I did stop playing with bands a while ago. This is just an old man's whim, and my wife may kill me for that 😅
I don't know, man...

How long before the Charvel arrives? I know from your posts that you really love there Nick Johnston guitar, but Anderson is top-tier stuff from everything I've seen.

Maybe see if the Charvel will cover that territory?

Yes, I love the NJ guitar. Playability and finishes are impeccable, and the Seymour Duncan Antiquity Texas Hot are excellent

I'll receive the Charvel tomorrow. I will wait

The DK-24 is at home.

I was initially disappointed because I've never unpacked a guitar without a hard case, that feels cheap, and the first string broke on my first bending. But after replacing them with NYXL, and a proper setup (the bridge was almost completely recessed) I started loving it.

Mr. Tom Anderson, Mr. Guthrie Govan and Mr. John Suhr can wait for another day :D

Just adding some more (needed :p) Dk24 pink Charvel porn to the thread. I personally wasn't loving the white pieces tho, had to personalize mine a bit (was always gonna swap pickups anyway) and went with black pups and knobs.

The DK-24 is incredible! Hard to believe that it comes for this price.

I sold my JEM7VWH a while ago because I was not bonding with it, but with this baby I feel like at home.

This is my first HSS. After 40 years playing with SSS, HSH, and HH, I've arrived to the conclusion that HSS is The Way

Mine came out of the box at Vai Academy straight from Sam Ash Music.

When it did, 2 of the 3 trem springs were popped off :(

But once I fixed that issue it was great.

I agree that for money they are really excellent.

My USA Select DK-24 is arriving today... So I know what I'm doing tonight! ;)

I got a soundcraft mixer from them...it was originally an open box but they offered me an upgrade to brand new for a little bit more so I ended up with a brand new mixer at 300 dollars less than list price. So I was pretty happy

"Are guitars like these the reason why we will never get an ultra-modern version of a Telecaster or Stratocaster?"

Darrell hits the nail right on the head

I have been thinking about these models, too. I like the one with the trem and no pickguard better although not sure about the reverse headstock with the trem and previous tuning stability experiences.

I agree 100% on all the positive review points he made as far as they apply to to the DK-24 (which they pretty much all do).

I just sent back one of them there Charvel Teles. Maybe it is me but I was
SO underwhelmed. It was black with the hardtail and the Fishman Fluence
pickups. Had major fret sprout and just didn't feel as well put together as
other Charvels I have played, and the DK-24 HSH I still own.

I sent back a new MJ Dinky the other week. While it was beautiful and actually played well, the electronics weren't shielded at all, so it was really buzzy. At that price point, I'd expected more. Also the switch tip kept falling off.
Now on the lookout for a GG model instead...

My GG came without a a grounding wire from the bridge. It was unplayable through amplification until I realised what the problem was. Took a few minutes to solder a ground and it played so nicely that I didn’t return it. However, it’s pretty shocking that it could leave the factory like that.

I guess they don't plug them in for the QC :D

QC can also be incomplete with Custom Shops.

My Schecter Nick Johnston Custom Shop USA came with the Tone Pot ungrounded. No problem while touching the strings or the volume pot, but it was noisy when lifting both hands from the strings, and a hell of a noise when touching the tone pot knob without touching the strings.

I had to solder a wire between the vol pot and the tone pot.

That was the first batch of the NJ model (they came with Seymour Duncan Antiquity Texas Hot, not with Schecter pickups). Perhaps the builder thought that the aluminum foil would do the job, but that is not the case.

I've found a luthier here in Bangkok that makes a model with similar looks to the Charvel Pro-Mod DK24 but some upgrades for $1.125. I wish I could have given it a try before purchasing the Charvel
