Any Tips using the pitch block

Hey everyone,

I was looking for any advice on cleaning up my tones when I'm using a pitch block on my presets. My band has songs that range from Drop C down to Drop G#/Ab but I only use one guitar. I keep this guitar tuned to Drop A#/Bb and use the pitch block to either tune me down a step or up one depending on what song we have coming up. I have my main patch pretty spot for my Bb tuning but it instantly gets super muddy once the pitched patch is on. I appreciate any feedback, thanks!

Here are a few things that come to mind...
  1. Put it first in your chain.
  2. Mix at 100%
  3. Bump the 'Level' up a couple dBs
  4. Tracking at 3.50
  5. Source set to 'Local'
  6. Raise the 'Low Cut' (150-250 Hz?) to cut added excess low-end when dropping the pitch.
  7. Lower the 'High-Cut' to cut added excess high-end when raising the pitch.
  8. Generally... The lower the CPU%, the better the Pitch block performs.

For distorted tones, run the pitch block signal into its own separate amp block. Expensive, yes, but sounds much better than mixing, essentially what are two separate guitar signals, into one amp

I've always used a filter/EQ after the pitch block when down/uptuning for this very reason. I've yet to get 100% the same as the unpitched tone, but it definitely helps.
