List of every Marshall cabinet speaker IR

I admit it: I'm really addicted to Marshall cabinets. I'd want to buy every possible Marshall cabinet there is. But I'm glad there's a much cheaper way to own and try them. And the best thing is you can find many ready in Axe FX III factory IR's!

I'm currently listing every different Marshall cabinet impulse I can find, make presets out of them and order them by the year the speakers were made. It's interesting to hear how they've evolved over the years and if there's really a noticeable difference between old vintage and newer speakers. Or even IR producers.

Feel free to point to any Marshall impulses missing from the list below. Or let me know if I have the years wrong. Some are based on assumptions.

Here's the format (works great with FC-6/FC-12):
SPEAKER_MODEL YEAR ADDITIONAL_INFO (CREATOR) IMPULSE_NAME
G12M20 68 1960A (V) Brit 68 Pinstrp

AB = Austin Buddy (https://shop.fractalaudio.com/cab-packs/austinbuddy/)

Just copy the list below, choose what cabs you want to include, paste it to Axe-Edit (Axe-Manage presets), put the IR's in and make yourself a Marshall cabinet museum! At first choose SM57 mics only to get balanced impulses for better comparison. I assigned a button to scroll between Amp 1 channels A-D to switch between various Marshall amp models. Be sure to make the Amp 1 global so the changes you make affect all these presets.

I finally had some spare time yesterday and prepared the 70's and 80's pack to my Axe FX in 20 minutes only.

At the moment I very much prefer the 80's speakers over the 70's speakers. 1968 4x12 G12M20 greenbacks and 8x10 G10L80 from Valhalla.ir also sound amazing. I also finally managed to get a decent sound from G12C 71 JIMI1982, which is a tribute to Jimi Hendrix's original greenbacks. Doesn't sound like "instant Hendrix", but it sure sounds good. The only weak link in 80's speakers seems to be G1280? 81- (FAS) Mad Oak Brit 800. Not entirely sure about the speaker model, but it sounds really off for some strange reason.

Shoutout to @dr bonkers: I've never really tried your impulses, so I was surprised how good the G1280 83 1960A (DB) DBS_JMLD sounds! Many people seem to dislike the G1280 speakers, but currently I prefer them over the hyped G1265. At least for now.

Also a few @Choptones speakers added to the list. I'll have to take a closer look at all the Marshall speakers they have. Not sure about which year the different speakers were made. Do you still have the speakers or can you guess?

@FractalAudio @Admin M@ do you remember what year or era G12M25 TV1960 (FAS TV Cab Pack 14: The 4x12 Collection v2.0) and G12M25 AX1960 (FAS AX GB Obot the Robot) speakers were? Thanks!

@ML SOUND LAB do you have any clue which year or era are these cabinets or speakers from?

These must be made before 71 if considered pre-rola. You don't know the exact years do you?

This cab is only available in the "ML Brit UltraRes Cab Pack Big Bundle". I suspect this is from 1981. Would it be possible to get access without buying the whole pack? I think I have all the other cabs in this pack and wouldn't want to pay 100$ for one cabinet  I think this hasn't gotten a lot of attention for some reason. Some 80's Marshall speakers don't sound so good because of all the revisions...
G1265 81- JCM800 (ML) Brit-65

Any idea about these? 90's, 00's or 2010's?
G12M25 TV1960 (ML) Brit TV
G12M25 1960BX (ML) Brit GB

EDIT:
This is what I found about the 1960BX: "The older the better. They started making them in 1990, had 6402 coned greenbacks till 2000, then switched to 1777 cones. Chinese greenbacks from 2003/4 to present. Same speaker, and cones, throughout, but different part numbers, country of assembly."

The Legends pack by @ML SOUND LAB (a Fractal pack) has both G12H30 55/75 and G12M25 55/75 in a Marshall checker board 4x12. These are also pre-Rola and may be the same as the Brit PR pack?

I suppose those both packs have the same speakers. I think Ownhammer did also two separate packs from the pre-rola speakers. Both are included in my list.

Yesss! Another 80's cab with G12T75. Same cabinet that Choptones already had made an impulse of. Gonna A-B both and test these against my real 80's 2x12 1966A with same speakers. Also gonna test these against the G12T75 92 1960 Anni (V) T75 Anni.

If you have old T75s from the first series, you may find them pretty close to the G12-65 (imho some of the best Celestions ever made, like in our V2-JCM1980 cab pack)
The T75s from the 1992 Anniversay cab, (an old and a bit outdated cabpack) will not be able to compete with older T75s, imho, but there's a old one waiting in line where we can't wait to put our hands on.

Some people say the early UK made (whitebacks?) are almost exactly same speakers as G12-65’s. That’s why they sound close. No clue when they changed the design the first time, but some 90’s speakers still have the white sticker. Did the 92 anniversary cab not have the whiteback speakers or were they just made different? Still having a hard time trying to figure out the timeline of T75 speakers... 😅

I’ve seen at least 3 or 4 different stickers on the back on T75’s. The newer chinese half black half white are the worst kind and work for metal music only.

Did some research and I think I got it now.

1984 to around 1986. Whiteback, vented. UK made. Basically identical to G12-65 soundwise.

1986-1989. Whiteback, non-vented. UK made. No difference or minimal difference in sound compared to vented model.

1989 to around 1995. Some say this is not the same speaker anymore. Sounds darker? UK made.

Then there’s an early 90’s (this one is from 92) speaker with an ”UFO” sticker. Made in UK. No clue about these.
7DF25C38-A335-4AC0-8AA5-06F670C879C0.jpeg
Around 1995 to around 2002-03. UK made.

Around 2002-03. Made in China. Modern take on G12T75, aka mid scoop from hell.

Been really enjoying the @Valhallir Green69 I bought yesterday. This has quickly shot up the ranks of my favourite Greenback IRs, the cab sounds brilliant, and while this is my first IR from Valhallir, it seems like their house 'sound' is very balanced and realistic. I'm especially digging the shots with the sE8 mic, a lot of body and clarity.

Thank you for your kind words. BTW...the sE8 is a small capsule condenser, which is capable of immense spl levels. We take it for near field shots as well as for mid (and sometimes) for far field stuff.
