Preset Name Meanings

Hey, this would probably be a good place to ask.. I haven't updated the preset banks since fw 17.. Do they get tweaked & updated as the firmwares progress? Should I grab the new ones ? Never thought about that til just now because I think I saw some in that list that I don't remember seeing before

How about the new ones created after fw18 I think? I'm on the latest Quantum fw and wonder whether it's worth my while to go through them all again?

Not at my guitar. and I can't remember what the "Broken Heart" preset sounds like. I did see a reference to the solo of the White Lion song Broken Heart. But again, I have no way of knowing if it sounds anything like the rhythm or lead of that song. Besides, it is probably not a good idea to have a preset named after the exact name of a copyrighted song. Unless you know the writers.

Can't imagine a harder one to figure out. Its not like rare to mention broken hearts in a music context.

Elegant gypsy is (as someone pointed out), definitely Andy Timmons and not Al Di Meola. High landrons is a song by Eric Johnson.

I did actually wonder if it was possible to rename actual amp models to the real thing?
Lol, you can have skilled hypnotist cause you to see the actual names. More importantly, a skilled hypnosis illusion can replace the badly missed melt faces feature. My dog friend's hypnotist made his appear to display a "melt planets" display, since Q2. But I cat be hypnotized. ;}

Just for giggles, I checked out that The Way To Eden episode. I think I spotted Beavis's father...

Hmm, interesting thread I never saw!
I think “Flippin’ the Switch” is for the Ace Frehley/Randy Rhoads technique of flipping a Les Paul’s selector switch with one pickup turned down—a stutter effect.
Are we sure “Year of the City 2274” isn’t for playing the theme from Blade Runner?
“East Wes” is another Eric Johnson song with a Wes Montgomery tone/technique.
Nowadays, we also have “Alien Surfer”, a typical modern Satriani tone.
Sorry if any of these have already been gotten...

Epic thread bump

Vintage Spring - Vintage Bruce Springsteen(?)
Just a vintage spring reverb preset, which is why I didn't try to find a reason for it.
Beef Supreme reminds me of the scene in Idiocracy where they introduce Beef Supreme during rehabilitation.
Idiocracy, Taco Bell reference - I thought it might even be a Captain Beefheart reference but I couldn't hang my hat on it, so I left it alone.

Nope, they don't get updated.

The EJ reference is covered. "Year of the City 2274" is Logan's Run not Blade Runner.
