In my pro band we all play with IEMs. No amps. No monitors. Just 2 side fields just in case something doesn't work.
Before that, I used to play with ear plugs because of the insane stage level. It's much better now. Sound checks are faster, too. Setting our gear and packing it after the gig is like 2 minutes.
