Van Halen on Seventh Seal

Hi,
I need an advice please.
In the Seventh Seal song, is Van Halen use a Phaser or a Flanger ?
Not like the others, i prefer the sound of Van Halen on the "F.U.C.K" and "Balance" albums.
Same question on " Judgement day " . A phaser or a Flanger ?Thank you in advance.

I love EVH's tone on Balance.

Sounds more like a pitch shifter with warm slap back delay throughout most of the song. He really doesn't like reverb, so even though it sounds a little verby I would stay away from the urge to add much reverb.

At 2:40 in the song, he plays a riff using flanger. It's very obvious in several spots following this one. I don't really hear any phase.

It is a very studio-layered sound, so I would get too caught up in being able to copy it exactly. But it is a cool tone that you should be able to get close to.

One of my favorite moments on that album is his solo (at 3:00) on "Feelin'". Just killer!

Good luck.

Thank you foe the advices ;)
I think, it will be difficult to reproduce the sound of The Seventh Seal......
For the "slap back " delay, what are your suggestion ?

After several test, it seems for me that the Pitch block with +6/-6 is the best solution and alternative (to a chorus) for the Balance album sound.
