Bad news today. My condolences to the family.

I heard through the grapevine that it was a massive heart attack. Vinnie was a poster child for hard living.

The best half of Pantera are gone. They did proudly wave the metal flag at its lowest point and kept it out there in the public eye. They put out some fantastic metal albums in the 90s when a lot of their peer bands were breaking up or changing their sound so as to be unrecognizable.

He was a huge drumming influence for me. I heard Mouth for War in high school and was like THAT. I WANT TO SOUND LIKE THAT.

He and his brother were my school of metal. Cemetery Gates is the only metal song which we could play loud at our home without anyone complaining. They left this world as legends.

We opened for them several times in the late 80's early 90's before they hit the big time. Always a fun gig.
