I actually think I might hack one of my non-spring mission pedals to spring toe down and set the auto off to toe down.

Great idea, though rubber bands dry out quickly and tend to snap unexpectedly. That surgical strap phlebotomists use to wrap around your arm when drawing blood would work nicely too for this trick. That stuff and the bike tire strips would be equally robust.

Bonus, On a Mission or Crybaby it takes less tension to hold it toe-down because of the rearward location of the pivot point.

For my Mission pedal I use one of those office paper clip (the big black ones) but for my Moog pedal that doesn't work so I think that finally I've found the solution. Thanks for posting this.
