5150 Clean channel

Green is the clean channel, right?
Doesn't sound clean at all, unless I get the gain knob to really low levels, like, almost zero... That makes little sense to me. I've tried to search for 5150 clean channel videos on youtube and noticed, that players don't really go that low on the gain knob.
Then again, I couldn't really find a good quality video on that.
Is this behaviour expected, or is my input level too high somehow? How would I know?

I had this amp and sold it after getting the axe fx. The green is the clean to crunch channel. Even on the real amp you had to set the input gain real low. You would get breakup pretty low. In the axe I set the trim to 0.5 to give me a bit more play.

On my amp I had the bias and the preamp tube changed to have a higher breakup point.

How hot are your pickups ?

With my LP I need to roll off the volume a bit, and back the gain way down. With my strat with vintage SC's, I still sometimes roll off the volume pot a little, but I can have the gain far higher and still have it stay clean, at least with a lighter touch.
