How do I determine what version of firmware I have in my FX8?

Just got it yesterday, and am attempting to fire up the FX8 edit.
It isn't talking to the FX8 on my iMac with messages appearing.
Is it a firmware problem? The new editor requires 5.00 or better I think.
I'm not sure what I have, although this is a new MkII.

Press the Setup button.
Press the Footswitch for Utility (should be #3)
Press the Page button until you see the Firmware page.

Thanks!
It's 5.02.
I wonder why I get error messages like "unknown device" or "communication time out" when
I fire up the fx8 edit when hooked up to my computer?

How long is your USB cable? Are you connecting directly to the computer or using an extension or hub?

10 ft I think. Connected to an open USB port in the back of my iMac.
I will reach out to a few friends later today about it.

Sorry to hear that. I just got a new fx8 last week. I hooked it to our upstairs pc and it worked fine but I'm a mac user and my new iMac will be ready next week. Let us know if you figure it out. It could help the next guy

Jeez,
Talked to a buddy in Toronto.
He simply suggested that I reboot after downloading the
FX8 Editor.
Worked like a charm!
Sometimes I amaze myself at my lack of cyberskills.

turning it off then turning it back on is the solution for many things tech. computer and fx8 ;)

Sometimes I have to restart the editing software. Make sure FX8 is On and connected before you launch editing software.
