U2 - BAD Clip...Q3.02

Sorry for all the U2 clips, I know it's not everyone's cup of tea! Pretty much the only songs I know how to 'play'. :)

Here's another clip showing off the AC30TB model in Q3.02. Let go of a couple palm mutes and messed up the beginning...tough song to play!

Thanks! 1983 for me, first year of college...The War Album on cassette. I've seen them 9 times since and they just get better and better!

Have you seen the video of Edge playing a gig in the Sistine Chapel?

The only difference with Bad vs. AIWIY, is that I used a vintage Dynacomp at the start of the chain for a bit more boost. I'll post a pic of the settings.

Here's the Dynacomp settings. Basically setup as a boost.

If I don't have one of these guys, what's the best way to achieve an equivalent effect within the AxeFx? DRV block with boost? Nice playing BTW. I've recently been working on this tune myself... staying in sync with the dotted 8th delay is killing me! :)

Thanks...the palm muting is what gets me. I have a short hands with short fingers, so it's tough.

You could probably just increase the drive on the SDD block.

If you watch the beginning of the Glastonbury version of Bad, the drive is set quite high and you can tell Edge isn't impressed as he looks around for Dallas. Eventually, Edge walks over to the rack to adjust something...I believe the SDD-3000.

As for the Dynacomp, try these settings from the Wiki;

MXR Dyna Comp

The MXR Dyna Comp is a classic guitar compressor pedal. From web research, its features were listed as follows:
  • Limiting Threshold Adjustable from 4-80 mV
  • Compression Adjustable from 15-40 dB
  • Attack Time 4mS at center ATTACK setting
  • Decay Time 1.2 Sec
To replicate this on the Axe-Fx, use these settings:
  • ATT - 9.9 (very fast)
  • REL - 1.0 (very slow)
  • COMP - 10
  • THRSH - -55
