My Elis.8's arrive on Thursday. I'll report back with my (highly subjective, by no means expert) opinion on listening to music through them, as a secondary use. I have no doubt they'll excel with my FM9 -- primary use, of course.

This certainly got more interesting! My updated impression, based on these latest posts, is that the speakers will do fine playing back recorded music. Not for mixing/mastering, which isn't my goal or question, but for listening for fun, which is. Also I'm hearing from people who use these...

I appreciate the replies RE recorded music playback. It seems pretty clear these are optimized for one purpose, which I appreciate. I think what I need is BOTH the QSC and the Elis.8! Not one or the other. :)

Can anyone comment on listening to recorded music through Elis.8's? I don't mean critical listening like for recording, mixing, mastering, etc. I just mean for fun at bedroom / home volume level. Clearly they're fantastic with Fractal modelers (or any modelers). Can they also be "pretty good"...

Ownhammer Rock Box libraries

I tried the free G12H pack and it is fantastic. I think this Rock Box collection is a big leap forward for Ownhammer. The G12H just replaced a long-time favorite for my Matchless presets. Try it while it's free! The others are on sale through July 31.

Wish More FAS Amps

+1000000000000000. I would LOVE these also. Cliff's "original designs" or mods are wonderful. FAS Crunch and Buttery are still two of my favorite models. (And my love affair with Buttery goes back to my Standard and Ultra days.) Also on the short list: Hot Rod, Modern. Slightly off-topic...

How to Stop Unauthorized Gear Acquisition

Another option besides Heritage -- I have coverage for professional music equipment through MusicPro Insurance. At home and outside home coverage. I've had one claim for two stolen guitars over the past 10 years, and they handled it quickly and fairly. I highly recommend them.
