    Hiss at rehearsal space

When you make your Humbuster cables... would be very interested if you could then eliminate the need for the extension cord. :)

    Hiss at rehearsal space

I made my own Humbuster cables. Was quite easy, if you're handy with a soldering iron. :)

Frank, I know you resolved it by using the extension cord, but I'm just curious... are you using Humbuster cables with your FX8? And, also curious as to what volume pedal you're using?

    Back Into The Fractal Fold

Haha, yep! I figure, why mess with success? ;)

    Back Into The Fractal Fold

Thanks! Yeah, I demo'd the Runt 20 and 50 by terrorizing my local GC's "expensive" room for over an hour about a month ago. They both sounded really good!

    Back Into The Fractal Fold

Hey guys, I started my journey with FAS in early 2011 with an Axe-Fx Ultra, then moved up to the Axe-Fx II in August of the same year. Really enjoyed the unit for 3 years, and experimented with FRFR (never really bonded with it) options, as well as using tube and solid state power amps and...

    Tip for the amp/cab guys

Oh, I'm "there" with my GT800FX... just always wondering if the grass is greener on the other side. :mrgreen And, yes... I do mess around with the hi/low resonance in the amp block in my presets until it "sounds right".

    Tip for the amp/cab guys

Hey Spence, Just curious... what tube power amp did you try?

I'm on the fence and the reason is amplification

If you're coming from a regular amp/cab rig, especially if that's what you use at gigs (mic'd up), then I would HIGHLY suggest you start with a nice MOSFET driven Class AB solid state power amp (Matrix GTFX series, or maybe a Carvin 1540), and a traditional guitar cabinet. Even the best FRFR...

Anyone measure the resonance of a Port City 2x12 OS (Vertical even better)?

Sean Ashe did the "find the resonant frequency" trick with his OS 2x12 (not vertical) with V30s (I think), and he came up with 85.3Hz. I have the same cab, same speakers as he does, and that freq. sounds right to me, although I don't play very loudly to really get the cab to resonate.

Hating my Axe FX, any last words before I sell?

Hey man, I live in Kansas City, but I don't gig with my Axe II/Matrix rig. But I'd be willing to try to help you out if we could work out a place/time. Just PM me, and we'll go from there.

Port city Wave os vs. Zilla fatboy vs Rhodes RCS

Another Port City user here. I have the Wave OS 2x12 loaded with the British made Celestion V30s (from a Recto 4x12 cab!), and it sounds so much better than the Recto 4x12 ever did. I'm using a Matrix GT800FX for my power amp, with Cab sims in the Axe OFF and PowerAmp sims ON.

Retro Channel VS matrix Gt1000fx, anyone tried a comparison?

Color me very interested in hearing your comparison of the RC and the Matrix, shag

    Real ADT Britt800 FW 14!!!

I like the sound. I think I'm detecting a "swirly" quality to it. Not sure if that's good or bad. :)

Anyone switch back from FRFR to power amp / cab?

Cool, thanks for the info, Nick. And, I too wish Fryette would release the LX II. I wonder what the holdup is?
