    Yeah, the cymbals sound thin and tinny instead of something with a little body. If you can do a slight low pass and smooth out the highs, and add some body, that might help.

    I wasn't able to listen to your clip but if it's what I think it is, your gate is releasing in a way that doesn't sound good. Try increasing the release time and if that doesn't work, try a faster release. Sent from my MB855 using Tapatalk 2

    How close is the mic to the grill? If it's right on it, back it off and inch or two and see if it sounds better. If do, and adjust to taste.. Further back or whatever. Also mess with placement between the edge and the cone.

    If they have rca inputs on the back then all you need is a rca to mini 1/8th adaptor. Make sure both of the rca plugs go to one mini adaptor.

    M audio is usually pretty mediocre. In your price range you could look at the focusrite scarlet 2i2. Talk to a few dealers on ebay and you can get one new for 125 shipped

    Ewi all the way. The skb cases are a joke and often cost more than Ewi. We use Ewi at my job next to some custom build nelson cases and they hold their own.
