    Marco Sfogli got his Ultra...

Check out James LaBrie's "Elements of Persuasion" too - Marco played guitar on that too and there's some awesome stuff there as well.

    Marco Sfogli got his Ultra...

It most certainly is an Axe-FX Ultra, I was talking to him on IM when he made the patch the other week. Keep in mind though that a lot of the "richness" in the tone has to do with how he's physically playing - the nuances of how he's attacking the strings and so on. Most people can't do what...

    Marco Sfogli got his Ultra...

Some more Marco magic: (I'm the one who challenged him to make the Tuscany patch hehe) http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/28441/RTK.mp3 JP's tone from Raise the Knife on the Score DVD/CD.

    Diezel Vh4

You need to run the VH4 essentially as an "effect" in the Axe-FX's loop. This allows you to use either the real VH4 preamp or the Axe-FX preamp models at will. The routing goes like this: Guitar > Axe-FX Front Panel Axe-FX Out 2 > VH4 Front input VH4 Send 1 > Axe-FX In 2 Axe-FX Out 1 > VH4...

    >>> Axe-Fx Ver 8.05 and Ultra Ver 8.06 Firmware Released <<<

I know for a fact you came to the Axe-FX party late in the game from your posts on the JP forum. Do you have any idea how much free stuff Cliff has given us since the unit was first released? You need to consider that before you post or you're going to sound exactly like someone who is...

Recto owners - Recto sims accurate?

I owned a Road King II a few years ago and I thought that through a tube power amp and cab, the Axe-FX simulation (it was Recto 1 I was using I think) was very very close to the feel of the real thing. It has that low end "sag" or "mush" that happens on the real thing when you play on the lower...

Mark IV tone through Recto cab?

Mesa doesn't make the Traditional Recto cabs anymore - the Stiletto is the same thing though in their current lineup.

Harmonics/ Overtones on the Mark IIC+ Model

Is this on a JP guitar? Mine both do the same thing and I'm positive it's a function of the guitar itself, not the amp. I can hear the overtone even with the guitar unplugged.

Vai's "Die to Live" tone test

Pretty sure he actually played a Bogner Ecstasy on ALS... wonder if you couldn't get close using that model instead.

MUSE - Map Of The Problematique

Bakerman and I had a patch going last year that was trying to simulate how Matt actually recorded the song. He used 3 independent amps, one dry and two with pitch shifters applied and then he used a signal switcher (MIDI controlled by a laptop) to "play" the rhythms you hear on the CD by...

    Amp sim requests

EVH actually ran his 5150s at around 6-7 on the preamp gain... I used to have an original one (was my first tube amp back in like 1992 or so) and yeah it gets saturated pretty fast. Nothing tops my VH4's Channel 4 for that though... around 4-5 so on its gain knob is probably max 5150 gain lol.

    Amp sim requests

I would have to assume it's supposed to be Channel 3 - that's all most people ever use. I use that for rhythm and Ch. 4 for leads on mine though...

    4CM hissing

Thanks for trying man... I'm gonna sell my Ultra and wait for Cliff to release a new product that has a dedicated instrument-level 4CM/reamp out on it to fix this stuff. I'll have it up on the For Sale forum soon.

aftec, Did you get the X-amp yet? Interested to see your results. I have someone offering to buy my Ultra, so I'd like to know soon... if this doesn't work I'm going to sell it.

    4CM hissing

It looks like the exact same thing as the Cuniberti ReAmp to me... Requires a balanced input, which you can't do coming out of the Axe-FX Out 2.
