    New Zealand: tips?

Been to Christchurch a few times on my way to and from Antarctica (just got back last month actually). It's nice enough and the people are fantastic, but it didn't seem like there was a lot to do after the earthquake a few years ago. They still seem to be rebuilding and a lot of the historical...

    Overwhelmed by Cabs

I tried to come up with a way to add metadata to each cab back in the Ultra days so that we could sort and filter through something other than file name. I am far from an expert, but I do know enough to understand Mic type and placement will do to my tone. If we could have done something like...

So far I'm not entirely sold on the Axe Fx 3....

The difference between the last update for the ultra and the first release of the II were not dramatic. By about the 3rd update it was massive. Fast forward a couple years and a tin of updates later and it's light years different. The reason? The original hardware couldn't support further...

    FRACTAL INTERFERENCE WITH INTERFACE??

It sounds like a ground loop to me. Did you try lifting the ground on the xlr cable? It sounds to me like the guitar is the path for ground when you turn the volume down and the rest of the time it is going through the audio cable and circuit.

Late 70's Marshall JMP Master Model 50w Mk2. Lead

I love my AxefxII. It' stuff like this that basically means I'll be upgrading even though I don't need to. It's too much fun to be a part of. The more FAS products we buy the more amps and stuff Cliff can buy and we get a stream of continuous return on investment. How is this not the best...

Axe II vs Axe III... DIFFERENCE now vs Difference in 6 months from now??

Went through this during the last lifecycle. I loved my Ultra and wasn't planning to upgrade. Now there were things with the ultra that we'e still shortcomings but not end of the world stuff. The AxefxII was initially a modest improvement but there were a few things that were implemented that...

Wish USB Driver that is stable

Not all cables are created equally. If the driver works over one and not another that doesn't sound like a driver issue in my opinion.

Things about the III you may have missed

On the cab block there is a parameter for mic distance. It looked like they were using standard ir's. Would be interested in hearing a bit more on that.

Is it me or is the Axe fx 3 aesthetically unpleasing?

Who's Planning To "Eventually" Move Up To The III?

Don't need it. I only use about 10 patches and 10% of what it can do. But I am on the list and I will buy one because I can and I want to continue supporting the company. My son just picked up the guitar and I may just give him my AxefxII. It would play much better with the wife.

    Fractal Facebook page

I was on facebook for about a week until I realized that I really didn't want to know how stupid my friends and family were. Makes holidays really awkward. I also think that there is this competitive thing where people try to say things that they think will trend or make them look special...

Fixed 48k Sample Rate Impedes Recording Studio Integrations

I literally spent months complaining about the 48kHz locked sample rate and spent even more time and a lot of money trying to remain in the digital realm. What I found was that the only time that digital was necessary for me was with recording the dry signal for reamping. It's too low for...

    Presenting... The Axe-Fx III

Going to USB3 wouldn't provide any performance advantages for audio but it would limit comparability for people. I mean there just isn't any benefit for limiting it to USB3. It wouldn't make it any better.

Axe FX III as a Platform

Neat idea but we're talking about someone who is not only a guitar player but someone who can code as well. That's going to be a pretty small market. Of course plenty of people could benefit but would it be worth the pain of opening that door be worth the net gains? The other thing is that...
