How is the switch from the Axe Fx III to the FM3?

If you carry the Axe Fx III around anyway, I also don't see a point in keeping both, unless you want an extremely flexible backup system in cases the Axe gets damaged somehow. In Germany, I see FM3 on the used markets for 1150-1250 Euros, with the new price being 1450. So the resale loss is not...

How is the switch from the Axe Fx III to the FM3?

Yeah, I went down that rabbit hole in the past, glad I got out in time... Thanks, glad you like it! I sold my Axe Fx III on Saturday. So now the switch is complete. I am really digging the FM3, and what I wrote earlier about playing more still applies. Weird, I don't get it, but it's a good thing.

I would agree 100% if the loss was not already compensated in advance by another Fractal device. :grinning:

How is the switch from the Axe Fx III to the FM3?

Oh, regarding the votes for keeping both... it sounds tempting... on the other hand - how many guitars can you buy from selling an Axe Fx III...?

How is the switch from the Axe Fx III to the FM3?

Hey, thanks, glad you like it! :) Yep, I'm very happy Fractal joined the floor unit market. This thing suits me very well.

How is the switch from the Axe Fx III to the FM3?

To give you an impression of what I do, here is a snippet from a song I hope to release soon (will be an EP with four songs) - I wrote and arranged this one, sang the male voice, everything else was played by friends and session musicians. The bass and all guitars were recorded through my Axe Fx...

How is the switch from the Axe Fx III to the FM3?

...what he said: :) Before the Axe Fx III, I have had an Axe Fx II since 2012 or so. And there it was the same: All presets were amp + cab with an occasional addition of a drive, chorus/flanger/phaser or delay/reverb. I am not great guitar player, even though I play since 1986 - but I have not...

How is the switch from the Axe Fx III to the FM3?

UPDTAE: I did the switch. Ordered an FM3 from G66, with the safety of knowing I can return it if I am not satisfied, and compared it then with the Axe Fx III. Lessons learned: 1. I could easily translate all my presets to the FM3, and indeed they are all so simple that I can run the reverb...

How is the switch from the Axe Fx III to the FM3?

That sounds good, thanks for pointing it out! No, apart from guitar and bass I only connect my mic pre, a Warm Audio Tone Beast TB12, which has XLR outputs and balanced TRS. So I can just run a TRS cable from it into input 2 of the FM3. Otherwise it would also not be a problem, I have some XLR...

How is the switch from the Axe Fx III to the FM3?

I have been using my Axe Fx III as center piece for my home studio for three years or so. Use it as my audio interface, not only for guitar / bass recording, but also run my mic preamp into Input 2 for vocal recordings, have my monitors and headphones connected to it (with a small mixing desk...

    Fractal Delay Plug-In???

And while we are at it: FAS-FX Delay would nicely be accompanied by FAS-FX Modulator containing the chorus / flanger / phaser Axe Fx III blocks... just saying. :tonguewink:

    Fractal Delay Plug-In???

Another vote for this. FAS-FX Reverb is my go-to-reverb, I prefer it to all the others I have (Waves Abbey Road Plates and Chambers, CLA Epic, Izotope Phoenixverb, Slate VSC, Liquidsonics Lustrous Plates, and several more). The only one I like almost equally is Korneffs Micro Digita Reverberator...

    FAS-FX Reverb 1.5

Can't comment on Valhalla, but I just compared it to Waves Abbey Road Plates and Chambers, CLA Epic, and NI Raum. I just opened a Cubase project on my Macbook Pro (13'', 2020 model with Quad Core i5). It was a song in progress, currently only ca. 15 tracks, buffer 2048 samples, CPU meter hardly...
